Delgado, Floyd, Nady missing from the "regulars" but we've still got Wright, Beltran, a muchly improved Reyes, and the redhot Valentin... so this is still better than anything we threw out there last year. -

We're already "serious contenders." We might need another starter to get deep into the playoffs though. I still like Soler even after the poor outing tuesday and would start him in game 3 of any playoff series right now.... so yeah we probably want some help.

]I sometimes get the idea that he hates talking and writing about the Mets and Yankees, because every negative comment he makes is followed by a dozens of e-mail accusations of bias. i'm pretty sure he has explicitly said as much ] Just goes to show that Baseball Sabermetrics won't always get it right. nope, they'll just be right a far larger percentage of the time than the "traditionalists" who don't believe in these crazy ideas like mathematics. Nobody claims to be able to predict everything with 100% accuracy, the goal is merely to improve on previous rates of accuracy in projections.

]Walks shouldn't be the goal for anybody. getting on base should be the goal for anybody who doesn't have great power (situations aside.) unless you are Ichiro, getting on base means drawing walks. trying to draw walks is a good idea, you take the hits when they come but walking should be your intention because you can't make an out when you walk as opposed to when you swing at a good pitch you can still ground out. the greatest leadoff hitter of all-time did it with walks. (career line of .279/.401/.419)

wrong and wrong. the WORST thing that can happen is for Reyes to start swinging for the fences. walks SHOULD be the goal for him because he needs to get his ass on base any way he can to benefit from his speed.

Reyes apparently thinks he's a HR hitter now too. when did LoDuca become "PLo"? I know he sucks sometimes but I don't thinks he needs to be associated with terrorists.
