  1. what happens now if Dickey can't come to a deal with the Blue Jays? you'd have to think things have soured too much in NY already. Do the Mets take what they can get for 1 year of Dickey? I dont know what that is but its probably not d'Arnaud.

But Turner's bat just doesnt make that a fun idea anyway.
  3. The Mets are a non-contender. If they can trade a 38 year old with a two year track-record of pitching well for a prospect the caliber of d'Arnaud I think that's a deal that has to be made. I hate to see Dickey go, but would I rather see him pitch well here for another non-playoff year? I think I'd rather see a good catcher behind the plate 5 years from now catching Wheeler and Harvey.
  4. Finally saw this and it was worth the wait. Just a hair short of the last film (Bain wasn't as good as Joker and that was the difference.) I'm really sad to see this darker Batman go, and cringe at the thought of a return to the Batman movies that preceeded the last 3.

  6. Schilling should go in with a crossed-out yankee hat! I hope voters have gotten smarter about the (non) value of W's and he doesn't wait as long as Blyleven did.
  7. I hope this blows up in the Braves' faces of course, but when have the Braves traded away a young starter and it worked out well for the other team? I thought they got killed on the Millwood deal at the time but he turned to junk quickly too.
  8. finally, good news from Metsland
  9. metsmarathon wrote: pretty sure piazza admitted to trying andro or something in either college or the minors and said he didn't like it or it didn't help and he stopped. Wasn't Andro, at that time, a legal product available over-the-counter in the U.S. And not banned by baseball?
  10. The steroid guys are soon going to leave a huge backlog on the ballot to the point that the guys who deserve to stick around for further discussion (Mattingly, Morris, Martinez, etc) may soon drop off. In: Piazza, Biggio, Bagwell, Raines, Trammell, Schilling ROIDS: Clemens, Bonds, Palmiero, McGwire - let them in. And now that we're done taking the moral high ground on steroids, put Pete Rose and Joe Jackson in the hall too. That doesn't mean Rose needs to be allowed around the game again but what he did as a player belongs in the history museum. Close but no: Martinez, Sosa, L Walker, Morris - I feel like I've been staring at Morris' name on the ballot for as long as I've followed baseball, and I'm still not convinced. Sosa could turn me probably. The DH issue is a tough one. Walker looks bad (as a HOF-candidate, not a baseball player) when you adjust those numbers No, but stay on the ballot: Smith, Mattingly, B Williams, McGriff, Alomar jr Everyone else can drop off the ballot.
  11. I've also never seen DD, nor do I intend to.
  12. I think Bagwell's career easily surpasses that of Galaragga and is ahead of McGwire and Palmiero while being slightly behind Thomas. But I do get your point.

  14. Try keeping this out of the Hall, douchebag writers! [youtube:7cyecr23]www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBMC1tA4CdM&sns=tw[/youtube:7cyecr23]
  15. Philly must be stripped of its titles! Barred from bowl games!
  16. Rubin reports deal fell through. A win for upstate!
  17. HOF balloting has become a joke with the "steroid guys.". After the farce was extended to Bagwell for suspected use, its safe to assume that the new eligibility standard is "doesn't look too strong," I don't feel good about Piazza's chances with Bagwell missing.
  18. Phucking Philthy Cheaters!
  19. Shawshank Redemption is $4 at Target today on DVD
  20. yeah the benefit to Binghamton was hopefully creating Mets fan up there instead of Yankees/Indians(?)/BlueJays(?) If they're going to move the franchise though, why Ottawa? isn't Montreal empty?
  21. Baseball america reporting that nolan ryan owned ryan-sanders group will buy the binghamton franchise and move them to Ottawa in 2014. Mets are locked-in with that franchise until 2016.
  22. When you throw in the "without going back to the ones before you were born" part its probably jus Titanic for me, and I never plan to waste time with it.
  23. It really depends how you define a hit. Do you just want to go down the all-time earnings list? You'd be including things like Titanic and Avatar that, although they made lots of money, are not movies from which people constantly spout quotes or discuss. You aren't missing cultural references by missing them, as opposed to lesser-earning movies like Ghostbusters.
  24. I think you'll find the villanous rosters of most superhero books to be rather thin. There is a reason the green goblin, dr doom, magneto, etc keep coming back for more.
  25. 4.5 one of my all-time favorites. Would have been a 5.0 if I had read the thread before voting and realized that the movie's "libertarian viewpoint" actually bothered a liberal.
