  1. Every hit off of Harvey has been HARD struck. If the Mets were in contention I'd yank him and say its just not his day. Since they aren't, I'd wait and see how he rebounds.
  2. Way to pitch around the leadoff triple! and Keith called strike 3 exactly saying Harvey should go up and out of the strike zone and make him swing
  3. Harvey gets the grounder! flip to 2nd! throw to 1st.... oh, yeah, its the Mets. fuck.
  4. That was probably as good as the brewers were going to get for a 2 month rental pitcher, so good job by them
  5. 0.00 ERA intact baby!

  7. damn you hate to see him leave on that walk, after challenging Upton with fastballs that twice got fouled off on 3-2. i liked what i saw tonight, but please bullpen dont fail him!
  8. For the sake of my NL-only fantasy team, I hope Grienke is dealt to Atlanta or LA (also, robbing the Braves of a prospect for a 2 month rental in a year where the Mets aren't contending might be a decent thing.)
  9. Edgy DC wrote: The Mets wrote: Daniel Murphy hit .523 at home in July, the highest home batting average in team history in a calendar month. He still lacks power or a position that he plays well defensively, I'd sell high on the batting average here.
  10. Mets need to start negotiating a new clause in all their minor-league contracts: "1. At no time shall the player, during interviews with members of the media, during games, at spring training, or at any other such time the player knows or should reasonably know that cameras or reporters are present, make remarks (other than disparaging remarks) concerning Derek Jeter, the Steinbrenner family, or any other members of the MFYs. 2. Never give an interview to Mike Francessa"
  11. What is Gregerson's contract situation? I assume he is at least in his arbitration years but how long until free agency? As a "rental" this deal is terrible, even if the Mets were in it for this year which I think they shouldn't be. If he has several years of club-control left though then I kinda like it.

    Valdespin

The problem with a pinch-hitter is sample size, he could just be another shmuck who had 10 nice at bats, but they happened to be strung out over two months and they came in the late innings of close games so we remember them. On the other hand, with Duda down, Bay a POS, and Hairston only worth starting vs lefties there is no real reason not to run Valdespin out there 5-6 days a week and find out how "for real" he is. Unless you'd rather bring Den Dekker up?
  13. I'd like to see the trip start 0-5 just so the Mets can realize they should be sellers before the deadline.
  14. I saw a stat that, at -12 runs below average, Hanley is the 2nd worst defensive "contributor" in the league this year. His bat may no longer be justifying his glove and the fish may be happy just to get rid of the contract

Keep Dickey so we can win 75 instead of 73 this year? 76 instead of 72 next year? No thanks. I'll take a prospect or 3 instead.
  16. Given his age, I think Dickey is unlikely to be a major part of the next Mets Championship team which I doubt will be next year with the lineup sucky, the bullpen a mess, and the mob of pitching prospects not ready. Dickey has pitched well this year (and tonight wasn't a disaster, 6 innings 1 walk 7 K's tends to work out well as the hits get caught next time) and unlike Hamels/Grienke/Dempster he would be under the acquiring club's control next year at a nice cheap price. The Marlins just got Jacob Turner for Sanchez and Infante. Dickey needs to be worth a lot more given his contract (we can throw in a valuable Murphy if needed for a far superioir SP/2B package than Miami gave up). I don't think Texas gives us Profar, but do the Cardinals deal Shelby Miller?
  17. The trailer did nothing for me.. It looked like Clark Kent was going to join the cast of Deadliest Catch? And then he goes flying at the end?
  18. Meet the new Chipper Jones, this fucker is going to be doing this for the next 15 years
  19. Tejada just took spikes to the leg there, it looks like the runner turned away from the bag to spike him. i say its BEANBALL time tomorrow!
  20. At 89 pitches Young likely has one more inning in him at best, I would pinch-hit there instead of leaving him to bunt.
  21. Edgy DC wrote: Asked about watching the Mets as a kid, first player Matt Harvey referenced was Jon Olerud. Awesome. He was my favorite player!
  22. John Maine's hopes of number-retirement took a huge hit here.
