  1. I guess its more moves coming after the break, a lot of innings lately they probably felt they needed help in the pen. Of course, the pen would be helped more by leaving Hefner in when he's thrown 75 pitches and is cruising along instead of going to the pen early and then using 4 pitchers in 1 inning.
  2. Per Rubin. About time. He was doing nothing here anymore. Not sure who is coming up- maybe Tejada?
  3. Great effort by Torres tonight!
  4. Hefner just told reporters he doesnt have the clout to argue with Terry to stay in the game there, but clearly he wanted to.
  5. WHY DID THEY PULL HEFNER??? he was fucking cruising!!

They dropped the names 'Orangemen' & 'Orangewomen' in favor of the less offensive and more all-inclusive 'Orange'. I suppose if you had 'Color Blindness Awareness Night' then, yeah, maybe you don't want to be playing Syracuse. Or Alabama. Or Brown. What race is orange anyway? I don't even know who that was offending

The name was interpreted as a Native American reference in the 1960s, and the university did have a mascot (adorned in Native American dress), which eventually led to the team's name change to the Red Storm. The change happened at a time when there was mounting pressure on colleges and universities to adopt names more sensitive to Native American culture. The Redmen name still remains popular among fans, however, as does "Johnnies". On September 18, 2009 the new mascot, which was voted on by students, was revealed; Johnny Thunderbird. Thunderbird?? so they basically managed to slip a little Native American stereotyping in there anyway?

I'm not defending Anna, but do you think she meant to follow through on anything if she thought Kris wasn't getting her the dough? Who knows? Really???? So we should believe the bank robber who swears he would have never pulled the trigger? throw the bitch in jail for a really really long time (assuming Kris' allegations are true)
  10. 1st pitch Byrd shits on the Giants!
  11. Walking Byrd for Satin?? NO RESPECT!!! get 'em Josh!!!

The Native Americans have always been fair game. i'd be utterly shocked if those were NOT the names of teams participating in adult kickball leagues. Sign me up for the "Hoboken Heebs" t-shirt please! will they wear matching yamulkas instead of hats? Mets really dropped the ball here... the plan was a good one and WHO GIVES A FUCK if the whole thing offended the Braves organization? I'd call that an added bonus. the team will stage Irish Heritage Night and Taiwan Day. Someone tell Wilpon he had better cancel Taiwan Day before he offends the communists!
  13. unlucky infield hit followed by lucky line drive double play! thats baseball

  16. probably a double off the wall not a homer. hey what the fuck Quintanilla??? thats an infield hit??
  17. A good bet that didn't pay off as many have said already. Deals like this don't hurt much as you aren't stuck with a guy (or worse yet his dead money on the books) past this year. I don't remember much of anything about his time here other than, as bfmc said above, who the fuck was Shaun Marcum to dictate who catches when he pitches? You're not Greg Maddux, you don't get a personal catcher.
  18. If the AS game wasn't here they'd probably already have announced he wasn't going... but at home they'd push him out there even if he needs Tommy John surgery the next day.

  20. Edgy MD wrote: He sure seemed to make the team as rotation filler, and most likely to be holding a spot until Wheeler arrived. Not so fast. Keeps this up, he'll be the new Rick Reed. Except that he won't get called a scab by overpaid assholes who begrudge others the chance to earn some money too.
  21. It all seems fine to me. Dennis Cook struck out Lefties about twice as often as Righties, but surprisingly has only .006/-.007/.021 difference in splits between them.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: I find the whole secrecy behind these things to be a bit maddening. I mean, I get why MLB wouldn't specify the details of the drug use itself, but did anyone even hear that he was released from their roster even though it was three weeks ago now? I get that we all want to know, but if your employer fired you for drug use do you think they'd put out a press release? more likely they'd quietly tell clients that you've "moved on" only when it came up. Umpires seem to operate somewhat closer to the normal job expectations of the rest of the world than ballplayers do. Of course, that privacy can also work against guys... The NFL's CBA prevents them from announcing why a guy was suspended, but if i'm the guy who used Aderrol or didn't check the ingredients on a legal over the counter supplement I would WANT that announced so as not to be lumped in with the steroid guys by the media. the policy actually works to protect the guilty while shedding unnecessary suspicions on the innocent.
