The idea that it's hard to find PT for everybody is a good problem to have. Ceets is right though. Nieuwie's gone .250 / .345 / .458 // .804 in 35 July trips, and launched the homer that started this hot streak. (#MetsCelebrateWins) That's good for a healthy shrift where I come from. When you're trying to win games this year thats a good problem to have. when you're hoping to find out which young players belong on the roster in the future it can be a hindrance.

  4. Lets sweep this shit and end their season early!
  5. Edgy MD wrote: Right now, I'm not sure there is an asset comparable to Harvey. That said, arms are vulnerable. Good pitching is ephemeral. It's there and it's not. Blink and you miss it. How Tom Seaver was able to do what he did, year in and year out, completing 47% of the games he started through age 32, working (presumably) without 'roids, is inexplicable. Who is comparable to Harvey? Harvey is a top 10 starting pitcher in the league right now and is under control for 6 more years... I'm having a hard time thinking of guys who fit both categories. I can't include anyone who hasnt had major league success, no matter how touted they are. Shelby Miller? Jose Fernandez? is it just my Met-Bias saying they aren't at Harvey's level? Would you say Strasburg has more value? with two less years of control left and the injury history I wouldn't.
  6. A bad call goes the Mets' way?? Impossible!
  7. Vic Sage wrote: He was SD's 1st round pick in 2008, played 3 years in their system at A ball, without much success, then moved to the Mets. Now he's 26, playing his 3rd consecutive year at AA/ Binghamton, either having a breakout season or beating up on less experienced younger kids, depending on your viewpoint. But, hell, i'd give him a shot. The dude has got power. That sounds a lot like "beating up on kids" to me but you never know. Where do the Mets put him though? how many ABs is he going to get with Ike and Satin here? Unfortunately there are only so many major league plate appearences and the Mets already have 2 not so young but not old options at 1B that they need to decide on (3 if you think that Duda does more harm than good in the outfield). Maybe someone else likes what he's doing and he nets you a relief prospect.
  8. I wouldnt deal Harvey. at all. Now if they told me Wheeler and d'Arnaud gets it done? sign me up. Wheeler isnt Harvey yet and while d'Arnaud might be a future star he also might never be healthy enough to show it, and he loses the "star" potential if his bat is forced by injuries to move off the catching position.
  9. Good effort by Torres... now how about some fucking runs???
  10. rumors have Alfonso Soriano headed back to the Yankees for prospects. this would kill my NL-only team.
  11. 1st Place could be only 2 weeks away!

  13. Recker barely beats the throw! RBI!
  14. LAGARES with the bloop! Come on, tag him hard here!
  15. so much for the rejuvenated Hefner? Lets hope he can bounce-back big time next outing!
  16. Olerud and Alfonzo too, please.
  17. It would be better if all our players turned into David Wright, but you're going to get some Jeters, and that's ok, as long as you don't end up with guys who are "me first" where the game is concerned or guys whose off field shit gets in the way of winning.
  18. Bitching about not getting free tickets was real classy.
  19. Not working on my Kindle. Is he beating the Phanatic over the head with a bat? That would be a great video.
  20. David just didn't want to mess up his swing by going for the fences. He could have won the thing if he tried!
  21. I think Duda is a defensive disaster in the outfield and he isn't a (late career) Bonds or a Ramirez whose bat makes that OK. The Mets, I think, need to decide who they would rather have at First Base going forward, as I'd call that Duda's only reasonable position. Given the choice, I'm going with Davis as I think he provides far superior defense at 1B and has about the same upside with the bat. Mex, RBI are about as stupid an individual stat as pitcher Wins and I find it hard to believe you'd want to use them to "bolster" your argument. In my opinion, Loney is not an appreciable upgrade on the Mets' in-house younger and cheaper options at First Base,
