She is probably the ONLY person in the country who really stands to profit from him having continued success. As far as I can tell, she doesn't have any other major clients.
  4. Good for Eduardo. I hope Eduardo grabs the RH DH spot and runs with it!

  6. We have a 17th walk and a LoCastro sighting!
  7. Familia: 4 earned runs, 0 hits. oof.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: I miss the days of longer benches where you could pull a good chunk of your lineup in a game like this. It seems almost strange not to see anyone off the bench in a blowout here - No Alvarez? No LoCastro?
  9. The NO FUN POLICE (stadium security) are taking away Mets Fans "Ghost Fork" signs. fuck that. Steve Cohen should ban all A's gear from Citi Field... oh wait, the A's don't have any fans anyway!
  10. Edgy MD wrote: Just like the KTE thread suggested. Wait these guys out. Marte showed the patience to draw a second RBI walk in a row and then Lindor sits on one
  11. Escobar hit it hard but another out for him, dang. On SNY they are talking about an Opposum that lives in the away tv booth, kicking the Mets broadcasters out today! was the rodent planted by A's ownership as part of their "we need a new stadium" push? Well, we can't say it wasn't.
  12. Wow the Mets grounds crew got a half year worth of work in today, bonuses coming from Uncle Stevie I hope
  13. =metirish post_id=121998 time=1681175252 user_id=72] Fuck off with the live bets odds cut to Gelbs
  14. That is a late and ugly slide attempt.
  15. Is it panic time yet? it feels like panic time!
  16. =duan post_id=121351 time=1680603205 user_id=99] I think it's fair to have it as a 'it got to me' issue - but you then need to have that sorted for next time out. Fact of the matter is the pitchclock has made baseball WAY WAY snappier and a much better game.
  17. Carrasco flat out said the pitch clock bothered him today. Definitely something to watch as he already felt like the most likely starter to have a NON INJURY related regression to shit this year.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Yes, never promoted. That's precisely what I meant. I know exactly what you meant. But go ahead. Keep the 13 for 74 in mind for what then? To improve their 13 for 74 against major league pitchers by batting against minor leaguers? Baty hasn't really played in AAA and I can't say it is wrong to think some time there would benefit him.
  19. Unless the catcher said something we don't know about that was absurd

Then throw in that the USA were NOT the home team so scoring one but only one run STILL would have left them with less than 50/50 odds of winning the game. Advantage: Not Bunting (or H & R) Well, let's see that win expectancy chart. Lastly, how do I get this gig? Like, seriously. Also, was the infield in or back? He worked as a reliever with the Dragons. His stuff was good. He's about to turn 26 and in 3 seasons in Japan, he pitched to a 3.03 ERA and 9.7 K/9 (https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=rodrig000yarbaseball-ref). Of all the teams who could use an experienced international reliver with who throws mid-to-high 90s with high spin rate wicked breaking balls NOW!!!!, I'd say it's your New York Mets. 21. Ok, a different angle maybe - Aggressiveness (or, displaying "reckless power") is viewed as a good thing for 16 year olds - but not so much for 23 year olds. the 23 year old American prospects have either learned to draw walks or we never heard of them because they never got drafted in the first round at 18 out of high school or 21 out of college. Meanwhile, the 23 year old dominican with that same skill set is on our minds because we know he got a huge bonus at 16 years old. This isn't to say that Dominicans overall are getting too much money, only that the money would be distributed somewhat differently if we waited to distribute it at 18 or 21 as we do American prospects - who actually get more money if they prove to have learned additional necessary skills at 18 or 21.

I'm guessing not. Just posing the question.
  23. So the whole damn thing ended with Ohtani striking out Trout. wow. Can't really ask for much more than that in March. Meanwhile, while US fans are apparently indifferent to the WBC, Japan is getting better television ratings than we see here domestically for the super bowl. THE SUPER BOWL!
  24. Edgy MD wrote: "He hasn't developed his feel for the strike zone yet, but you don't want to take away that aggressiveness." I heard it when José Reyes was coming up, and I heard it when Amed Rosario was coming up — even as both swung at balls from their ankles to their eyebrows, and both ran into developmental hurdles. Now I see Ronny Mauricio hitting 26 homers last year, but pumping out an OBP of only .296, and the refrain carries on. Is there any truth in this? Why wouldn't we want our fastest guys to be learning to lay off of pitches as early in their careers as possible. Is there a double standard? Why is aggressiveness a virtue for black Dominican infielders, but restraint a virtue for David Wright and Brandon Nimmo? That you-can't-walk-off-the-island nonsense has to be universally dismissed by now, but there seems to be some trace elements remaining. I don't think "you can't walk off the island" is nonsense. You can't walk off the high school diamond either. How many powerless high draft picks do we see? probably on par with the number of powerless big international bonuses. Drawing walks, once you make it to the minors in the US, is a virtuous thing sure, but the difference seems to be in who is being taught to be more selective at a younger age and who isn't - not that the major league teams are somehow promoting different virtues for different players in their systems.
