  1. It is beginning to look that way.
  2. I think he probably knows how to manage his time.

The word STRONG appeared on three covers this year, and all three featured Severino. In all previous years of the Tabloid Cover Derby, we've only had two other STRONG covers, both from Newsday: http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2021/20210219_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220826_NSD_02.jpg>

  7. That's very possible. I'd like to think that if Pete says, "get it done!" his agent will do what his client wants. But with Boras you never know.
  8. The Athletic wrote: Mets lose two in Rule 5 draft In the Rule 5 Draft, the Mets lost right-hander Mike Vasil to the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Nate Lavender to the Tampa Bay Rays. In Triple A last season, Vasil had a 6.04 ERA in 134 innings (27 starts). The Rays can stash Lavender, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, on the 60-day injured list, provided they keep him on their 40-man roster until spring training. “You never want to lose any player in a Rule 5 draft,” Stearns said. “We simultaneously wish them well and also hope to get them back.” If Vasil (this year) and Lavender (next year upon his return) can't stick on the major-league roster for their respective teams, they have to be offered back to the Mets. If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like Tampa Bay would have to keep Lavender on their roster throughout the 2026 season? (This is how I'm interpreting the "this year" for Vasil and "next year" for Lavender.)

He's a hard worker, someone that cares about his craft, someone that cares about his winning, someone that cares about his family, someone that cares about his teammates and somebody that wants to continue to get better. That's the Mets. It sounds like the Mets. It sounds like the culture I wanted to build, be a part of. I think he's the right man for the job.”
  10. I'm going to start a Go Fund Me to help him buy out all of the unsold BATY 22 jerseys.
  11. Phillies gave up on him even sooner than I predicted!
  12. He sounds like he'd be a great ice cream flavor.
  13. And he'll be easy for the Rays to keep, because they can stash him on the 60-day injured list for the entire season. Vasil is another story. I suspect he'll suck and the Phillies will send him back.

  15. I'm okay with missing out on this one.
  16. I think we've learned, twice now, that no potential president is too improbable.
  17. Me too. I hope it happens.
  18. This feels pretty unlikely to me.

  21. We do have a new crop of models, and they're free to choose their own wardrobe. We had to bring in some new faces because our original models, Shelby and Marissa, had been holding out for a big raise. Fortunately, that's been settled, and you can see by their diminished roles that it wasn't in their favor. Don't mess with the home office!

  24. It's a good point. I don't know that a proven starter and Pete Alonso are an either/or, but I agree that the Mets should bring in another proven starter and not count on catching lightning in a bottle two years in a row.
