  1. Syndergaard pitched 7 strong innings, but left trailing 1-0 on a solo homer. Lagares with a clutch 2-out RBI to tie it in the bottom of the 7th. David Wright up, trying to put the Mets ahead.
  2. There are ten players who have played both for and against the Mets in postseason games. Name as many as you can. I was trying to think of players who might be added to the list this year. I may very well be overlooking someone, but the only one I can think of is Carlos Beltran, if we end up with another Subway Series.

  5. There are 29 players whose last game as a Met was a postseason game. No need to take turns; make as many guesses as you like. When we get to a point where we start to need clues I'll start to break it down by year. Some of the names are very prominent. Others, not so much.
  6. Michael Kay talked about Mets fans on his show today. First, he said so many Mets fans are such vicious, vile people. Then he added, apparently explaining how he got criticism for saying that Mets hitters would struggle against Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke (and dismissed that the Dodgers would have similar issues during day games against the Mets power pitchers) that he hopes they choke on their own bile. I have to admit, I don't know who Michael Kay is. It looks like he's someone affiliated with the Yankees somehow. And, of course, an asshole.
  7. Voting for Wednesday night's loss to the Phillies will close some time over the weekend, but not before 10 a.m. on Saturday. Schaefer POTG 9/30/15 - Phillies 7, Mets 5

  9. Dodgers won today. Home field advantage is a little more tenuous than it looked a few days ago. Hopefully, win or lose, the Mets will be able to play all three games against Washington this weekend so they don't have to play makeup games on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, which would be ridiculous.
  10. Four weeks ago, if we were told that the Mets would be swept by the Phillies just before the final series against the Nationals, we would have thought we were doomed.

  13. Yes, I'm legitimately blocked from the SNY telecasts of Mets-Phillies games. I live in the Philadelphia suburbs and Comcast has exclusive area rights to Phillies games. I can't get the Phillies on MLB.tv or Extra Innings; I can only watch the local telecasts. But if I was able to spoof my IP address to make it look like I live in Sacramento or Boise or somewhere like that, I should be able to watch the Phillies as if they were an out-of-town team. I could watch the opposing team's broadcasts for all Phillies games, although I only care about the 19 games where they play the Mets.
  14. One additional reason I was glad that the Mets clinched in Cincinnati was because I was able to see the SNY coverage. (Not on Extra Innings, unfortunately, but on MLB.tv.) When the Mets play the Phillies, I'm stuck with the Philadelphia coverage. Maybe next season I'll experiment with some of that software that allows you to spoof your IP address. If I can make it look like I'm in some other market (other than Philadelphia or New York) then maybe I can pick up the Mets coverage for Mets-Phillies games on MLB.tv.
  15. He's saying "Men with cameras hound Lucas. Taunt Lucas! Lucas just wants to be left alone."
  16. Yes, I think they are more likely to hold an early 5-0 lead in the playoffs, but a lot less likely to get such a lead.
  17. It sounds like you're assuming that the Wild Card team will advance. If the Cardinals win the NLDS then the Mets would only have games 3, 4, and 5 of the NLCS at home.
  18. I just checked StubHub for "Home Game 2" at Citi Field. Standing Room Only tickets are selling in the $130 range. Promenade outfield seats start around $150 each. Field level box seats are around $400 each. I'm a little bit tempted on those $150 seats, but only if it's played on Saturday. I doubt that I'll pull the trigger and buy tickets, though. I assume that the NLCS, if the Mets should advance, would only be more expensive, right?
  19. That's right, Terry was evicted when Robles was, wasn't he? I forgot that that was part of the deal.
  20. Robles getting ejected was the turning point of the game. It looked like Terry was setting it up to be Robles in the 6th, Reed in the 7th, Clippard in the 8th, and Familia in the 9th. When he brought in Parnell, everything changed. (I was expecting that Carlos Torres would have come in to replace Robles; I was surprised to see Parnell there.) I also didn't like seeing Goeddel exit in favor of Niese after only one batter. My only comfort (that's the English word for "conforto") here is that Terry might have made fewer moves if he didn't have 38 players. He may have over-managed himself to this loss.

  23. They're selling tickets before they know which games the Dodgers will be hosting? How does that work? If you buy tickets for Game 1, would they translate to Game 3? And I guess if you buy Game 5 in L.A. and it's played in New York instead, you'd get a refund.
  24. Call me David Wright.
