  2. The month of September has been wrapped up, and all Schaefer Players of the Month have been announced, but we still have a few October games to vote on. Voting for Thursday afternoon's loss in Philadelphia will close on Tuesday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Schaefer POTG 10/1/15 - Phillies 3, Mets 0
  3. I'll have to try to sneak in a nap beforehand.
  4. I would have been shocked if they hadn't.

  6. I thought this was going to be a thread about Mike Piazza's wife! I already have a beard. I guess I could pass on trimming mine, but I don't think I'll do that. Instead, I'm just going to walk around singing Meet the Mets at the top of my lungs all day.
  7. Bartolo Colon led the National League this year in hits allowed by a pitcher, with 217. He's only the second Met to lead in this category. (The other was Frank Viola, with 259, in 1991.)
  8. That the Expos are going to defeat Burger King in the World Series? I'd bet everything I own that that's not going to happen.
  9. Here it is! The very last Schaefer POTG thread! Box score Clippard 1 Colon 1 deGrom 2 Familia 1 Granderson 3 Niese 0.67 Reed 0.33 Verrett 1
  10. Has anyone noticed that there still has never been a World Series between two expansion teams? This year, the Mets are the only expansion team from the National League that has made the postseason, and the Yankees are the only American League team that's NOT an expansion team. Which means that if the Mets win the pennant, and the Yankees don't (which is the ideal scenario) we'll have the first-ever all-expansion World Series.
  11. I'm really not expecting the Mets to get past the Dodgers. Of course, I hope I'm wrong. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Mets surprised me. (If that makes sense.)
  12. I voted Blue Jays. I have no particular desire to see a Subway Series. I want the Yankees out as soon as possible. (And by that I mean on Tuesday.)
  13. Bobby Valentine has said that he was going to let Leiter start that game.
  14. The October games count towards the overall Player of the Year award, but there are no October players of the month.
  15. Wait... what? You mean, there's more?
  16. The Mets just took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 8th on a homer by Granderson. So unless this becomes a four-run inning, Familia will get a chance to tie the club record.
  17. Curtis reminds us that Mets can hit home runs!
  18. Harvey 4 Goeddel 0.75 CTorres 0.75
  19. Nationals have their first hit, off of Ruben Tejada's knee. Hopefully he's okay, or we're out of shortstops!
  20. And the Mets, of course, are scoreless.
  21. Colon in for deGrom in the fifth. Nationals hitless through five.
  22. Lucas Duda set a new club records today with his 14th HBP.
  23. I found an article from AP that says that deGrom would possibly go in Game 4 if the Mets were down 2 games to 1. Associated Press wrote: After that, it's uncertain who would get the ball if Game 4 is necessary. New York would like to start unbeaten rookie Steven Matz, provided his balky back is healthy enough, and 42-year-old Bartolo Colon remains a possibility. But manager Terry Collins said Sunday the Mets might use a three-man rotation if they fall behind 2-1 in the Division Series. That would mean bringing back deGrom in Game 4 on three days' rest for the first time in his two-year career. Syndergaard would be on full rest for a potential Game 5 at Dodger Stadium.
  24. Pepsi Cola makes red objects disintegrate.
