  1. Ruben's' going to be taken off the field in a cart.
  2. I predict that this inning will end with the score tied at 2.
  3. Utley's single doesn't drive in the run. Noah yields to Bartolo.
  4. I was wrong! Runner on base, Syndergaard still pitching.
  5. That was a nine-pitch inning for Greinke. I hope Syndergaard can do the same. I think if anyone gets on base, Terry goes to the pen. (Assuming that Noah starts the inning. Not sure that he will...)
  6. Six innings complete. Both starters have identical pitch counts of 101. This game will be decided by the bullpens.
  7. I was using my mental powers to induce Crawford to hit a grounder to Tejada -- and he did! I wish my mental powers worked like that a lot more often than they do.
  8. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: PiggiesTomatoes wrote: Kid's got to be quick and economical this half inning. So if they have to go to the pen after this, do we see Colon or Niese? I was wondering that too, but my guess is Robles in the 6th or Reed in the 7th.
  9. Noah gets out of that jam. He and Greinke have virtually the same pitch count after three innings. (58 for Noah, 56 for Greinke.)
  10. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: 1-2-3, true, but two of them saw full counts. Greinke is at 57 pitches through three. Noah at 36 through two, so his count through three may not be too much behind that.
  11. Don Mattingly is starting to look a little like Bill Murray.
  12. Greinke has thrown 41 pitches through two innings. I hope this pace keeps up and he's out of there in six or fewer. I imagine he'll settle down though.
  13. That catch by Seager reminded me of Ozzie Smith
  14. Except in the World Series.
  15. Game starting soon! For some reason I have fewer butterflies than I did yesterday at this point.
  16. In the post-game press conference (which I watched this morning) someone asked Terry if he was considering replacing Tyler Clippard with Addison Reed as the eighth inning guy. Terry responded by saying, "You may be thinking about it, but I'm not thinking about it." I was thinking, Terry, you should be thinking about it. But then Nelson Figueroa and Keith Hernandez and (maybe?) Jim Duquette said that they agreed with Terry. And that surprised me. I thought the conventional wisdom was that you're supposed to play the hot hand in the playoffs.
  17. I'm pretty sure that's been the plan.
  18. Twelve Mets made their franchise post-season debut last night. Therefore, counting David Wright, 13 of the 25 Mets have seen postseason action already. Those who haven't yet are: Syndergaard, Harvey, Matz, Colon, Niese, Reed, Robles, Goeddel, Nieuwenhuis, Flores, Conforto, and Plawecki. I've followed up on Edgy's post where he sequenced the first game of the 1969 NLCS, and also took care of the 2015 Mets from last night's Game 1, at the bottom of the list. The count is now at 138, and of those who haven't played yet, Syndergaard, Harvey, and Conforto are most likely to see action, two of them as soon as tonight. I don't think I knew that neither Donn Clendenon, Ron Swoboda, nor Ed Charles appeared at all in the 1969 NLCS. 19. After the postseason is over, I'm willing to cap Harvey's innings at zero until spring training.
  20. Hopefully he'll remain tied with them for losses.
  21. Yes, it does! I seem to be constitutionally unable to sleep much past 7 a.m., so I'm pretty tired and very happy this morning. An afternoon nap is most definitely on my agenda for today.

  23. I like how these sexy women in Viagra ads often wear football jerseys. It's as if being sexy isn't enough, she has to also like football.
