  1. I think what he's really saying is, nobody wanted him.
  2. A lot of infielders. I think that's a good idea anyway.
  3. So unless there's late-breaking news, it looks like Robert will stay for the remainder of the season.
  4. Based on what they got for Brazoban and Raley, I'd say yes, keep Torrens.
  5. I agree. Although this deal wasn't as good as some of the things that had been suggested, it's still better than keeping him. The draft pick the Mets would have received would have been pretty low. At least Pitre is closer to being ready, plus you have two other guys as well.
  6. I know there's probably more to come, since Tyrone Taylor is very likely to be dealt, and perhaps Holmes, Weaver, and Robert as well. (And maybe others?) But so far, I'm not very impressed. They don't look like they're reloading for 2027 and it doesn't look like their Top Thirty (or whatever) prospect list is significantly improved. The only acquisition I'm excited about (and I'm using the word pretty loosely) so far is Émilien Pitre. Maybe he's good enough and close enough to displace Marcus Semien next year. Maybe he can be that Steve Henderson I've been hoping for.
  7. Wow, as if getting Tarik Skubal wasn't enough, now the Dodgers have Ben Rortvedt!
  8. Not for middling prospects, anyway.
  9. FanGraphs gives Émilien Pitre an ETA of 2027. I can't get to his Baseball America scouting report, but apparently Google Gemini can: Strengths Plate Discipline: Displays a remarkably mature eye, walking at a high clip (over 18% clip in parts of 2026) while keeping strikeout rates exceptionally low. Defense: Possesses above-average range to his right, comfortable turning double plays and making accurate throws on the run. Baserunning: Aggressive and efficient base stealer, compiling high stolen-base totals across his college and minor-league stints. [1, 2, 3, 4] Weaknesses & Limitations Lack of Power: Features a flat left-handed swing that produces grounders and singles/doubles rather than home runs, capping his power projection at around 5–10 home runs per year. Positional Versatility: Average arm strength restricts him mostly to second base rather than a utility or shortstop role. [1, 2, 3]
  10. Anthony DiComo says... The Rays have added to their pitching staff in a big way, agreeing to a deal to acquire right-hander Freddy Peralta from the Mets for a package including multiple prospects, a source tells MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. The Mets will receive OF Aidan Smith (Rays' No. 15 prospect), RHP Gary Gill Hill (No. 26) and 2B Émilien Pitre (No. 27), a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The teams have not confirmed the deal
  11. I saw a report that the Rays are very interested in Peralta. If so, the guy I want from them is Brayden Taylor: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/brayden-taylor/sa3022921/stats/batting Third baseman. Recently turned 24. Currently in AA but with an ETA, according to FanGraphs, of 2027. Rated number 76 by FanGraphs, number 6 in the Tampa Bay organization.
  12. They never really should have listed him as a starter in the first place. There's no good reason to send him out there.
  13. The Athletic is reporting that Peralta is one of the pitchers that the Cubs are targeting. Maybe my long-lasting yearning for Pedro Ramirez, who I had never heard of until about an hour ago, will finally be satisfied. (He can be our Steve Henderson!) He came up as a third baseman but that position is apparently blocked in Chicago so he's projected as a second baseman for the Cubs. Should he actually become a Met, both positions are reasonably open to him. This is from North Side Baseball: The versatile infield prospect has played in over 400 minor league games as a contact hitter with plus speed on the base paths. The 21-year-old switch-hitter has gained plenty of attention during his ascension, getting a Southern League All-Star nod and earning a slot with the big-league club’s 40-man roster. Pedro Ramirez - 2026 Chicago Cubs Top Prospects Ranking - North Side Baseball NORTHSIDEBASEBALL.COM Chicago found two high-level hitters out of a Venezuelan baseball program in 2021. Cubs top prospect Moisés Ballesteros has gained a lot of attention, especially since his impressive...
  14. And if we want to filter this on the players closest to the majors, based on the ETA column, it will be one of these. Based on what little I can glean from this data, I'd suggest Pedro Ramirez of the Cubs. Hopefully, however, the Mets will put more time into their analysis than I have. 15. Okay! 16. I bet they can get someone who's in an organization's top hundred, but MLB top hundred may be a little optimistic. But who knows? There may be a team desperate enough. Is anyone willing to volunteer to cross-check the top hundred list with the list of teams who are likely buyers this week?
  17. Vance more likely than Tom. Tom was too busy working on Ziggy.
  18. If they could get Steve Henderson for him, they should do it. By that I mean someone who can be an every day position player in 2027. But I wouldn't trade him for prospects who are two or three years away.
  19. What the Mets got for Minter may or may not be comparable to what they gave up for Ryan Helsley last year, but it definitely looks like less than what they gave up for Tyler Rogers. And that may be okay; Rogers was probably more highly valued than Minter. I hope for a better return for Raley, who has a better recent track record.
  20. Next he'll sign David Wright's daughter.
  21. I thought Peralta had already made his last start as a Met. If he hasn't, then this will certainly be it.
  22. Okay, Minter has been traded. Here's what I'm curious about, in rough order: Will they trade Holmes, and if so, what will they get? Who will they get for Peralta? Who will they get for Taylor? Will they trade Robert, and for whom? What will they get for Raley? Will they trade Weaver or Brazoban? Will they trade Baty, Vientos, or Alvarez? (I'm guessing no.) Will anyone other than the above be dealt? (Semien, Lindor, Manaea, Senga? Of these, I think Manaea is most likely.)
