  2. Well, I'm not going to root for the Mets to lose any particular game, but if it's all the same, I'd rather the Mets draft ahead of the Reds next June.
  3. It will be true of the Mets too if Jose Reyes gets 15 hits per year for the next 17 years.

  6. I want to make a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reference, but I can't think of one that would be appropriate. I mean, I'm not sure if I'd rather see deGrom pitch as Henry Jekyll or as Edward Hyde.
  7. Voting for the games played between July 20 and July 31 will close on Wednesday, August 15. If you're on the list below with a 10 next to your name, you're all caught up on the games that are about to close. If not, and if you're so inclined, please try to get your votes in over the next week. Ashie62 10 Benjamin Grimm 10 G-Fafif 10 Kongsuds 10

  11. Well, it's been about a year and a half. I guess nobody knows who "McGrath" is!

  14. I'm sure the press conference will be all about Qualcomm.
  15. Unless they call it the "Jackie Robinson Limit".
  16. I think he's referring to the point where the luxury tax kicks in.
  17. There will be a lot of rumors over the next few months. Let's start with this: Nick Cafardo, The Boston Globe wrote: Ben Cherington is being mentioned often as a top candidate for the Mets' GM job. He hasn't been eager to jump back into the fire, enjoying his role in Toronto. Is the Mets' job the one to jump at? One of the problems candidates and those who work with the Mets have mentioned is working for the Wilpon family. The Mets don't appear to be considering Omar Minaya, John Ricco, and J.P. Ricciardi, who are running the baseball operation as Sandy Alderson undergoes cancer treatments. Also mentioned for the job are Orioles GM Dan Duquette, former Dodgers GM Ned Colletti, and former Red Sox scouting director Jared Porter, who is now with Diamondbacks.
  18. Yes, it makes it better, because it makes it more unlikely. And I haven't seen any evidence that the 2018 Mets can "easily" win a best of three against anyone at all.
  19. I'm not a Yankee fan and I don't like the current system. I don't like that it potentially rewards a mediocre team. You can have a third-place team that had 83 wins win one game over a 100-win team and end up in the World Series. I understand rewarding a division winner. But I'd have the Wild Card game become a best-of-three series. And you can play those games in two days. Using 2016 as an example, Game 1 could have been in San Francisco on Tuesday and Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) as part of a day-night doubleheader at Citi Field. Is that a grueling schedule? Sure, but it's equally grueling for both teams and it makes it all the more onerous for the teams that didn't win the division.
  20. I'm not so sure about that. If the Mets go outside the organization for a new GM, the new guy might very well insist on the ability to select his own manager.
  21. Who is this Justine? Has she replaced Steve Gelbs?
