  1. I'm seeing similar rumors about them potentially bringing Chris Bassitt back. I don't know if these rumors stem from the Mets actually considering adding another starter, or if they're just the result of wild-ass speculation. It seems like it would leave them with too many starters, but as we've seen, there's no such thing as too many starters. The tricky thing is, what do you do with them during periods when six or seven or more of them are healthy at the same time?
  2. Unfortunately, his name reminds me of this guy:
  3. We have remember that the trade with the Mariners for Cano also brought us Edwin Diaz.
  4. I don't think I would count Kevin Mitchell, at least not by my own personal criteria. I would say that when he was traded he was a young player, but had advanced beyond being a "prospect".
  5. That would mean jamming a lot of eggs into the 2026 basket.
  6. Tylor Megill is going to pitch as many innings for the Mets in 2026 as I will. He's out for the year with Tommy John surgery.
  7. Williams is still very highly regarded. I voted for him in the "who's sorry" poll, but I've learned not to get too upset when prospects get dealt. For every Pete Crow-Armstrong there may be a dozen Shawn Abners.
  8. I like that, even if Peralta leaves after one year, this trade will at least have the potential to pay dividends for several additional years.
  9. Who are you sorrier to see go?
  10. I think Framber is now off the table, but I've been surprised before.
  11. He sounds pretty good. I'm glad to see that he has major league experience, can start, and has five years of team control.
  12. Laura Albanese of Newsday suggests that Baty and Taylor will be in the mix for left field.
  13. I found this on the Metsmerized Online site. The quote is from over a year ago. https://metsmerizedonline.com/can-brett-baty-play-left-field/
  14. At this point, I think it will be either Taylor or Baty, depending on how spring training plays out.
  15. I really like the top three. After that, as you say, it's anybody's guess. It could be very strong, or pretty weak. Of course, there will be adjustments as the season progresses. Adding Bichette helps a lot, but I'm still not terribly optimistic at this point.
  16. It looks like opt-outs are here to stay, doesn't it? This isn't really a five-year contract; it's more like a two-year contract.
  17. I agree with both paragraphs above. I think Bellinger isn't going to happen. I would have preferred him to Robert, but Robert is a shorter-term commitment, so there's that. And yes! Pitching! Let's go all in on Framber Valdez. If they can fill out their roster by signing Valdez, Bichette, and trading Acuna for Robert, then they really haven't put a dent in their list of prospects. I'll be very pleased if the Mets still have Tong and Sproat in the organization on April 1, especially since they've been named in virtually every rumor.
  18. I'm just glad they got him at a lesser cost than some of the earlier rumors indicated. I'm sorry to see Acuna go, but I'm not sure he'd have been much more than a Teddy Martinez for the Mets. (Am I showing my age?) It would be fantastic if Robert would go back to his 2023 self, but it's not seeming very likely. But there's a reason that there's a Comeback Player of the Year Award, so maybe...?
  19. Players mostly seem to want the opt-out to come sooner instead of later. I think the recent Soto contract is more the exception (in many ways) than the rule.
  20. There were some reports that indicated that the Yankees are fed up and done with him, but I'm definitely skeptical about that.
  21. Well, a lot of people seem to be talking about Cody Bellinger, but he doesn't have a thread yet in this forum. There's a lot of speculation that the Mets and Yankees are the most interested parties. A decision may come soon.
  22. Framber is still out there. Just bumping this thread in case any news breaks.
  23. I saw an article that seemed AI generated that said that the Phillies were furious at the Mets, but didn't provide any details. I can see that they may be angry at the player but it doesn't seem reasonable that they'd be angry at the team that signed him. There are so many ****** news reports out there. And it's only likely to get worse over time.
