  1. Confession: Much of the time I'm only half listening to what the guys are saying.
  2. He says he wants to be like Ralph Kiner. Stay in the booth, but for fewer and fewer games as he ages.
  3. Newsday is reporting that Keith Hernandez has signed a new SNY contract. The article quotes Keith as saying he'd like a three-year contract, but it doesn't confirm the length of the actual deal that he's reportedly signing. https://www.newsday.com/sports/media/keith-hernandez-sny-mets-games-s03mvulh
  4. I know it's cool not to care about this, but I'm pleased.
  5. That last quote is interesting. They traded guys they wanted to trade, held onto the guys who were untouchable.
  6. He's the grandson of former Cubs infielder Don Kessinger.
  7. The fact that his name means "Mountains of Goose" seems noteworthy.
  8. Now I'm seeing rumors that the Mets are interested in trading for Luis Severino. I'm skeptical.
  9. I don't know that there's a spot for him, but Wilmer Flores is always welcome.
  10. Nothing against Harrison Bader, but I'm having a hard time readjusting my head to the latest scale of salaries. Bader doesn't seem like a guy who would make $10 million per year, but Kyle Tucker is making $60 million and Shohei Ohtani is making $70, so I guess $10 million is rather paltry. If I had one year of Harrison Bader's salary I would have retired years ago.
  11. I had thought that the plan was to bring it up as is, a functioning but "dated" website. I was definitely surprised to see how vapid it currently is, and the stock photos of softball players doesn't leave a great impression either. But I decided I was going to let go, and so I have. When I want to look something up for my own curiosity, I can use the legacy link that I shared above.
  12. If we were to look at the prospects that the Mets have acquired in trades, there's a decent sized list of successes. Ron Darling. Sid Fernandez. John Stearns. Steve Henderson. David Cone. Travis d'Arnaud. Noah Syndergaard. Maybe more, but these are the ones that I can think of with little effort.
  13. We can go all the way back to Amos Otis if we like.
  14. I'm seeing similar rumors about them potentially bringing Chris Bassitt back. I don't know if these rumors stem from the Mets actually considering adding another starter, or if they're just the result of wild-ass speculation. It seems like it would leave them with too many starters, but as we've seen, there's no such thing as too many starters. The tricky thing is, what do you do with them during periods when six or seven or more of them are healthy at the same time?
  15. Unfortunately, his name reminds me of this guy:
  16. We have remember that the trade with the Mariners for Cano also brought us Edwin Diaz.
  17. I don't think I would count Kevin Mitchell, at least not by my own personal criteria. I would say that when he was traded he was a young player, but had advanced beyond being a "prospect".
  18. That would mean jamming a lot of eggs into the 2026 basket.
  19. Tylor Megill is going to pitch as many innings for the Mets in 2026 as I will. He's out for the year with Tommy John surgery.
  20. Williams is still very highly regarded. I voted for him in the "who's sorry" poll, but I've learned not to get too upset when prospects get dealt. For every Pete Crow-Armstrong there may be a dozen Shawn Abners.
  21. I like that, even if Peralta leaves after one year, this trade will at least have the potential to pay dividends for several additional years.
  22. Who are you sorrier to see go?
  23. I think Framber is now off the table, but I've been surprised before.
