  1. I think so too. That's why I created the third version, using the highway font.
  2. I was going for having it look just like a highway sign, with the exception of the Mets script, of course. I even found the font that the highway signs use!
  3. I think I'd like to see an option with the green and white of the highway signs.
  4. Mets Line is pretty generic. Grand Central has much more of a New York feel. And as I stated previously, it conveys a sense of motion and activity.
  5. How about "Grand Central Mets"? The 7-Line has co-opted the name of the subway that goes to Shea, I mean, Citi. We could do the same with the highway that goes there. It also suggests that the site is a hub of activity.
  6. I'm noticing that the Cubs site (North Side Baseball) and the Marlins site (Fish on First) does not incorporate the team name: About DiamondCentric - DiamondCentric DIAMONDCENTRIC.NET And the sites for the Blue Jays (Jays Centre) and Red Sox (Talk Sox) only include a partial team name. So the question becomes, how critical is it that the site include the word "Mets"? Or could we call it "Flushing Baseball" or "Who's on Third?"
  7. This is more like an illness than an injury, but Nolan McLean is recovering from a case of vertigo and as a result is reporting late to his WBC team.
  8. Barring an onslaught of injuries, I'm pretty certain that Tong will get at least a couple of months in Syracuse to get his stuff together.
  9. I assume this is a pre-WBC exhibition game?
  10. Or break the 99 ceiling and have three-digit numbers. If two of the digits are 1 (the narrowest number!) they should be able to fit three digits on the jersey.
  11. I'm told we'll have to replace "Saucy" with "Juicy".
  12. In recent days, the parameters of the move we've been discussing have become a little more clear. The forum can continue to be called "The Crane Pool Forum", but it will be a subsidiary of a larger Mets site. For example, the site might be called "Peppermint Mets". (It won't! I intentionally chose a name that's too stupid to be real.) It would be hosted at peppermintmets.com. The home page would have news updates, articles, links to blogs or videos or whatever. And a link to "The Crane Pool Forum". Our task, here, is to try to come up with a name that's better than "Peppermint Mets". I think we can do that! The name needs to include the word "Mets" as a standalone word, not as part of a portmanteau such as "Metsmerized" or "Metscellaneous". The goal is to have it come up in the results when someone searches for "Mets". It also has to be something for which a domain name would be available. There are many sites where you can check domain name availability, include at GoDaddy. For what it's worth, they think that "peppermintmets.com" is a "great name". https://www.godaddy.com/domainsearch/find?domainToCheck=peppermintmets.com&itc=dlp_domain_whois We're going to use this thread to gather suggestions for the new site name. It's possible that an obvious consensus will emerge, but if not, we'll create a follow-up thread that will serve as a poll where we can vote for the names nominated here. So... start suggesting!
  13. No consternation. I don't really care. I'm just pointing out that you don't know the denominator, and both of those AI quotes say the same.
  14. It's not about influencing the voters, it's about understanding the results. He's saying that people who get 75% of the vote will be removed, but we only see the numerator, not the denominator.
  15. How can you tell if Hubie has 5 out of 5 votes, or 5 out of 17?
  16. You're going to have a hard time knowing who has 75% of the vote without knowing the actual number of distinct voters.
  17. John Hay, who served in the White House as President Lincoln's secretary and later became U. S. Secretary of State, was Joan Payson's maternal grandfather.
  18. Maybe Bret Saberhagen? I know Gooden was still with the team then, but he may not have been available for Opening Day for some reason.
