  1. I hope he's not standing on the Golden Gate Bridge.
  2. ="Centerfield"]For the last two weeks, the Mets seemed really determined to come back and win from 5 run deficits. Maybe today is the day it happens. And maybe the Braves can do that too. I decide to root for Tim Hudson and this is how he thanks me?
  3. I can see Pedro, Hernandez, Glavine and Perez all having better Septembers than him, which could mean that Maine will be this October's Darren Oliver. That's not a prediction, by the way, but a possibility.
  4. Here's my Valadius impression: FUCK!
  5. I'm getting concerned about John Maine.
  6. If Gotay comes through here I'll consider changing my son's name to Reuben.
  7. My son has nothing to worry about.

  9. The Phillies and Indians both have three runs on the board in the top of the first. I wish the Mets had done that.
  10. I think the dot was there for two or three years before I even noticed it. I'm completely ambivalent about the orange dot.
  11. Willets Point wrote: Hey if you accept Seaver and HIS MOUND and the egg salad sandwich thing you'll accept anything. I don't remember the egg salad sandwich? I probably reject about 20 per cent of the entries. Some of them are spam, some are a lot of words that say nothing, and some are just an awful mess. And there's one guy who posts the same memory every other month or so because (I assume) he wants to keep it on the "recent memories" page. It took a while before I caught on to him, but now I recognize the text and delete it right away. (When I discovered it, the same post appeared five or six times for the same game.) He's been posting that same memory for years now.
  12. And I'll REJECT it! (Just kidding, of course.)
  13. I don't like to hear about twinges. Hopefully the Mets won't need Delgado until early October. I wouldn't mind resting him for a few extra days as a precaution. Among regulars, Green is also sitting today.
  14. Thanks! Voting for the entire Atlanta series will close tomorrow (Thursday) morning: Fri., 08/31, Mets 7, Braves 1: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7263 Sat., 09/01, Mets 5, Braves 1: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7267 Sun., 09/02, Mets 3, Braves 2: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7273 Vote counts for Sunday's win are still a little light. Please vote today if you intend to and haven't yet done so. And watch for the big Player and Pitcher of the Month announcement!
  15. Edgy, I think you put soupcan's words in my mouth. (And they taste like cream of chicken!)

  17. No position player has ever earned a full six points in the final tally. In fact, I believe that Alay Soler with his shutout in Arizona last year is the only Met ever to earn a 6. (Aaron Heilman's one-hitter in 2005 got him a 5.98.) When I gave Lo Duca 6 points for last night's game, I think (but I'm not sure) it was the first time I ever gave a full six-pack to a non-pitcher. Lo Duca's already received some votes that award fewer than six points, so he won't be tying Soler's record.
  18. Gwreck, can you please copy your Schaefer vote for September 4 from this thread: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7292 to this one: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7290 ? Thanks! Edgy, for the same game, you voted twice for Green: Green 1.585 Green 0.0126 I'm not sure what that will do to my magic spreadsheet. (Probably nothing.) But I might as well point out that anything after the second decimal place is going to get discarded so its pointless (although harmless) to extend your votes to four decimal places.
  19. Uniform numbers again? This is probably the fortieth time we've used uniform numbers for a countdown. (Maybe I should include a photo of Pat Zachry in this post.)
  20. Lo Duca 6 Green 2 Beltran 1 Delgado 1
  21. I'm beginning to think I'm in the minority, but I like the blue/black a lot better than the all black. But they're both way behind all blue.
  22. I have three caps that I wear: An all-blue Mets cap, a blue/black Mets cap, and a classic blue Brooklyn Dodgers cap. I wore the Brooklyn cap in California. Whenever I'm in LA I feel like I ought to be representing the borough of my birth.
  23. I also despise the black jerseys (and the all-black cap) but I understand the desire to have a variety of uniforms to sell to the fans. So rather than advocate their elimination, I'd be willing to settle for their infrequent appearance, like for Sunday night games or midweek day games. They can use the all-white jersey (and the blue cap) on weekend day games at home, and pinstripes and blue caps for all other home games. The blue and black cap can be the official road cap, except when they're wearing the black jersey. Then they'd break out the awful all-black caps.
