  1. I can be content going into the postseason with an outfield of Beltran, Alou, Milledge, Green and Chavez. And that outfield might be good enough to get us to October. It could be better, but it could also be a lot worse. I think the Mets have the players. They just need to play like they're capable. If a bunch of Mets can get hot, they can go far. If they all just muddle around, the postseason is in jeopardy.
  2. The 2006 team was, no question, more fun to watch. But the 2007 team does have a chance still to win that World Championship that eluded 2006 and if it does, the team we're having trouble loving will get its place in our hearts and our history.
  3. Today, Jos Offerman is looking very likely to end Danny Napoleon's four-day reign as UMDB daily lookup winner.

  5. Nope, just looking at major leaguers. I have Preston: ]St. Louis Cardinals Gary Bennett, Jason Isringhausen, Braden Looper, Kelly Stinnett, Preston Wilson I do have to catch up on my minor league stuff, though. I'm aware that I'm missing a bunch, including Pedro Martinez's recent minor league games.
  6. In these cases, does the victim have to press charges for an arrest to be made?

  11. I check in and update it a few times a year. There's always somebody I miss, though, and I usually catch them over the winter when I do a final accounting. If you spot anyone who I don't have, please let me know. I have 35 players who were active in 2006 who, as far as I know, have not played in the big leagues in 2007. (Cory Lidle would increase the list to 36 players, but as he's dead at the present time, I doubt he'll see any action this year.) 15. This is getting confusing. Can we see a list of correctly answered questions?
  16. The Mets have to win three games against the Pirates. That third win would make up for losing two of three to the Marlins.
  17. 6. Joe Charboneau?
  18. The reason I was thinking pitching change in the second inning is the bold line between Hunt's at bat and Snider's. I used to do something similar when I'd score games.
  19. A few wild guesses: 4. Phil Neikro 5. Matt Williams (by "modern day" do you mean since 1900?) 8. Ernie Banks
  20. I don't quite understand what I'm looking at. I'm guessing a pitching change after Hunt batted in the second. Did Thomas and Kranepool go back to back? It's Neal's 2nd inning at bat that confuses me. If he scored, I'd think there would be a line from 2nd base to 3rd. The other thing I notice is that the scorecard only allowed for nine batters. As far back as I can remember, there would be at least four or five additional lines for substitutes.
  21. I actually attended Phil Rizzutto day at Yankee Stadium. (It was my second and last visit to the Palace of Evil.) The reason I went was not to see Phil, but to see Tom Seaver win his 300th game. During the pre-game honors for Rizzutto, they brought out a cow and it knocked Phil to the ground. I remember, while enduring that ceremony, that Seaver had better get that 300th win to make the experience worthwhile. He did, and it was.
  22. Three more games will close tomorrow (Wednesday): August 10, Marlins 4, Mets 3: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7090 August 11, Marlins 7, Mets 5: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7095 August 12, Mets 10, Marlins 4: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7100 Be aware that voting often closes fairly early in the morning, so if you have any votes that you want to get in, try to do it today. Tonight's game in Pittsburgh will be tallied on Friday, and that will be the last Schaefer tally for a couple of weeks. I'll get caught up on the tabulating when I return from vacation on Labor Day.
