Indeed, I'm not complaining. High 30's with 25 mph winds are not good
for my aging bones any more.

lubricate them with some Henry Hops.

It cannot ever be colder than the 2003 Opening day, where we were two rows from the very tippy-top of the upper deck at Shea, the wind was 30 MPH and the temperature was near freezing. I think we were sitting between the Donner Party and the Shackleford Expedition that day.

1985 Opening Day, Gary Carter's first game, we sat in the last row up there.
The wind whipping in the face and from behind as well through that open grating
was brutal. Of course he hit a game-winning HR and it all was worth it.

Then there was the March 31st, 1998 Shea opener (their first game ever in March?) - aka: the 'Alberto Castillo game' for when he singled in the only run of the game in the bottom of the 14th
I was at that one in shorts, mainly because it hit 86 degrees that day.

I was at that game, had great field level seats in LF. I had sunburn on my sunburn.

I don’t think it’ll hit 86 degrees this year

I went to Opening Day with metfairy one year...we had inside seats thank god; it was cold! KC it was the year we met Rusty Staub! I had a sunburn that day from the beautiful weekend we had just had, but by the time I drove home that night, it was sleeting.

I was at the opening series at the Polo Grounds. We were in the upper deck behind home plate. The bullpens were far away and it was tough to read the uniform numbers of relievers warming up. Casey called for one and I turned around to the guy behind me who had binoculars and asked "Who is that out there?" He said "Santa Claus".
I turned back around toward the field. It was snowing. (flurries)

Mr. Met visited too, I have pictures somewhere of that day.

Oh I do too! And my sweetest memory of that day is that my Dad taped pictures of me and Rusty and me and Mr Met to his office wall.

Since it was a kind of whirlwind thing, I called him the day after and said "Guess where I was yesterday?". Gosh, I miss my dad

Thursday's weather in Flushing (acc to the 'Weather Channel' website): 61 and Cloudy, 8 mph wind WNW, 20% chance of rain

Saturday: Partly cloudy high of 53, 19 mph WNW

Sunday: Partly cloudy high of 48, 15 mph WSW

As of now, Friday looks to be the day of rain so whoever made up the schedule is a genius.

Well, we won't be seeing Adam Wainwright during the opening series: to the DL with a hamstring strain.
Of course this isn't as big an advantage in recent years as it would once was seeing as how the now-36 y/o Wainwright (37 in August) hasn't had a good and full season since 2014.
He made just 4 starts in 2015, and while he made 33 & 23 in 2016-17, his ERA for those years were 4.62 & 5.11

StL reliever Luke Gregerson is also out with a more severe case of the same ailment.

First pitch almost 48 hours away... NOAA update - Thursday - A 30 percent chance of showers.
Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 56. East wind 3 to 6 mph.

DiComo projects Plawecki over dArnaud to start OD. I'm not sure how Mickey will handle this balance.

I got my ticket from them too; their fees are also kinda stupid (especially since ya
print them out) but what the hell it's Opening Day. Hope to see you at tailgate.

I intend to stop by, but Mikkeller beckons at 10. The siren song of beer.

Is Mikkeller accessible once inside the stadium?

Plawecki is Thor's personal catcher, no? Makes sense.

I figured. My first trip there will probably be on a much less crowded day.

I'm not so sure about that. Mickey has said that it's going to be based on the opposing pitcher as well as who's better rested, who's hot or cold, etc. He doesn't want to establish any "personal catchers."

Go to this page about an hour before first pitch and find the Mets feed.

https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBStreams/

You'll get a pop up add or two and then voila - baseball.

Legality aside, MLB, SNY, and the Mets have conspired to prevent me from watching my favorite team unless I subscribe to a major telecom carrier, which I no longer do. So I will use these streams, and my Chromecast, to cast games to my big ass TVs all season.

Thank you Fman I will try. Makes me disappointed that some thing that I felt was a grace from the Mets as a kid is now a cash pot for them :(

Not fair to lay the cash-pot disappointment on the Mets when it comes to
who can watch what and where. I think they cheap out on the spring training
coverage but the regular season rules and stuff is MLB wide. And as a kid, if
you lived where you live now, the antennae on top of your house probably
wouldn't have pulled in a signal over the channel locally broadcasting.
