Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Welcome to The Wilpon Appreciation Thread (TWAT)!All of us card-carrying members of PAW would have roasted them if they hadn't ponied up the money for Cespedes. Now that they have, it's only right that we give thanks for living up to their end of the bargain. Sure, Sandy played the situation perfectly, but he wouldn't have been able to do dick without $110 million of Fred's money to back him up.So thank you Fred. Thank you Jeff. I hope you enjoy this TWAT.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I know of a group of Buddhists at a community center in Maspeth, Queens who have long appreciated Jeff Wilpon:(I wonder what Drew and Edith are doing in Tower B?)
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Oh, we're off to a roaring start.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Press conference fashion report: Fred Wilpon is sporting an elegant brown sleeveless wool-like sweater, corduroy pants and dockers. Jeff wears his business like suit with a Mets orange creamcicle tie. Sandy Alderson looks quaint, throwing a jacket over his pajama top.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Ces in a suit is a stunning sight. He partially disrobes to don his Mets jersey which looks very comfortable set upon the earthy tones of his shirt and tie.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) WOW!"God willing, I want to finish out my career with this team." !!!!Sandy:"God willing and a no trade clause."hahaha Edited November 30, 2016 by Guest
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 There's a funny quote that I can't quite remember/find that is appropriate here. The gist of it is that it is important to praise with the same speed at which criticism is leveled. So, Jeff, when you're reading this later (because we know you do): good job!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 He said his priority from the start was returning to the Mets. This really pumps me up.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 The next Mets stadium should have a Fred Wilpon Rotunda.Later
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 WOW!"God willing, I want to finish out my career with this team." !!!!Sandy:"God willing and a no trade clause."hahahaWhy is that a good thing? I wouldn't want the last year or so of just about every major leaguer that ever played the game of baseball.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 "Jeff Wilpon is a winner, and, believe me, I know winners. If the Mets don't win it all this year, I'll declare them the World Champs anyway."

RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Someone else needs to be thanked: The Mets medical staff. They were the ones who supposedly quashed the Carlos Gomez trade. If we have Gomez, we have no Yo.

Thanks for the nice comment. And it's funny, that one took no more than ten minutes to make. Just slapped Jeffs face up there and re-created the smoke effect. This one took hours, days even. This is my favorite from that old JWiHistory thread (favorite that I created-I think some others that were posted were higher on my list). AND, maybe Jeff does linger, because he may have gotten this message. I don't recall seeing the orange billed caps last season. If they wore them the odds are I posted this somewhere on those days (& IIRC I posted it once during 2016).
