Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 6-0 with Cincy still batting with runners on in the 4th
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Mets on 1st & 2nd to open the 6th. Come on Bruce, pretend you're a Red.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 The Marlins have walked the bases full with Duda due up to face the left hander. Hopefully, Terry will let Lucas take his cuts. He can make this a game with one swing.Let him take his hacks Terry.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Damn. Now it's up to the bench (who shall it be?) to come through with 2 outs.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Um, you're supposed to make the opposition pay for walks. The Mets get three walks in the inning and still can't score. Definitely not their night.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Those are the type of chances you can't blow after digging yourself a big hole.On the plus side it's 10-1 Reds in the 5th

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 A scoreless inning from Montero. That's ... not ... nothing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Pretty effective slurve, that Bearclaw guy throws.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Nonetheless, tying run on deckles.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 This would be a very different game if Terry had gotten Colon out of there on time.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Wow, I like what they did here at the end. bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 I understand that tonight was tough for all parties but maybe tomorrow, the Mets can play some baseball and Terry can manage from inning one.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Very moving tribute by the players there.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 It was an Indian Ritual? (per KH) That was a very nice touch. If this was tough on us and baseball, imagine his family and friends. And the family & friends of the other two lost. Devastating. There's a hole there that will never go away.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Sad backstory on last night's HP umpire. He had a heavy heart, too. Perhaps someone else should have been behind the plate. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/jose-fernandezs-death-hit-hard-even-for-mondays-plate-umpire-092716
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 Well, I never like to see the Mets lose, but if ever there was a night in which it didn't bother me too much, it was last night. Touching ceremony and the Marlins were playing with such emotion, they were on a mission to win for their departed teammate and friend. Much like the game against the Braves following 9/11, it was only fitting that the Mets ultimately won. Now tonight, it's time for the Mets to get back on track and win.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 The Braves were in the process of fending off the Phillies when they lost the game of 9/21/01. Philadelphia drew to within a half-game of them that night, while the Mets pulled to within 4 1/2. They were tied with Philly for the division lead as late as the succeeding Monday, 9/24, before winning their seventh consecutive N.L. East title by two games.I don't know if their years-later comments about it being OK the Mets won for New York that night were rooted in perspective or they truly felt that way when it happened. 2001 wasn't a runaway for them by any means. They needed the game of September 21. They didn't get it. They survived.I wasn't the least bit happy the Mets lost their game last night. I'm glad the Marlins won their game. though. Too bad it had to be the same game. But the Mets can survive, too.In the meantime, thank you, Reds.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 This math is too hard for me. Did our chances of clinching a wild card slot (any slot) increase despite the loss?
