Grand Slam Diaz for the Cards. 5-2 StL in the 4th.

Diaz, btw, was a childhood friend of Jose Fernandez and left the team yesterday to spend the day with the Fernandez family.

Yeah everything except the Red Sox failing to clinch at MFY Stadium when Kimbrel and whoever blow a 3-run 9th inning lead and lose on a grand-slam by Teixera. We'll have to get them back for that in the World Series if we don;t wind up facing Cleveland that is.

How about some love for the Cincinnati Reds as they wrap up their season. These glorious Reds were nice enough to go 0-6 against our beloved Mets, while posting a respectable 9 wins against St. Louis.

Two of three in this last series really put a dent in their playoff hopes going into the weekend.

Thank you Reds. You may now re-commence sucking.

Aaack. I spoke too soon! Reds have one more game against the Cards.

Crap. Put sucking on hold for one more day. Just kidding!

Eh, if CF jinxed 'em Monk balanced it out with an awesome song.
If the Cards win I will console myself by listening to Red Rain at max volume.
I think the Reds are gonna rain down some runs tho.

Peraza just singled with 2 out in the 7th.
Still 3-1 Cards.

Wow. Fuck you fat ass. Fuck you Reds.

Cards walk-off in the 9th. Molina RBI double.
Reds should have had Carpenter at the plate, I feel, but they bungled their shit.

Might be reviewed. Talk of it possibly being a ground rule double.

That should be a ground rule double. That's some bull spit by the umps. How the hell is that not reviewed?

It hit the back wall pretty clearly I thought. That makes it a ground rule double. I think it ought to be 2nd and 3rd.

But never mind what I think. How do the umps just leave the field leaving the Reds with no ability to challenge?

Did the Reds have a challenge left? I didn't watch the entire game. If they had one left then they have to pick this game up and finish it. This is pretty preposterous.

OE: according to MLBtv, it's ovah!

Apparently those advertising signs, above and also slightly in back of the regular wall, are in play and it's the railing behind both of them that determines HR/not and also in-play/not so that hit was a live ball.
But, yeah, having the losing manager chase the umps down the runway in a case like while the home team dog-piles at the plate and the cameras and microphones are coming out to do post-game interviews is one of many problems that apparently no one anticipated when they slapped together this replay rule.

On a play where there is any question, and this was certainly one, the umps should just do their job and wait to see if there is a protest. At least look at the bench/manager to see if there's a possibility of one. What, was there a swingin' ump party after the game or something? WTF?
