Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Maybe everybody is going to heal overnight tonight, but how about some post-game transactions or transgressions or transvestites or something so Terry has something resembling a real roster tomorrow?

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I'm not sure where the Fuck Ichiro came from. But if repeating it helps the Mets win, its as good a mantra as any.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Heckuva well played game. With almost no margin for error, they somehow hung in there long enough for the big blow. And, lest it go unsaid, the toughest pitcher in the division matched up against an absolute shot in the dark out of AA.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 St. Louis ... they won.Washington ... won as well. But Miami surely lost, and that ain't nothing. And everybody thank your newest, bestest buddies, the Colorado Rockies, for beating the Dodgers so far, 6-0 after seven. And your other buddies tonight, surprisingly, are the Cubs, who just tried it up against Pittsburgh in the bottom of the ninth.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Cespedes again. wow. Don't think I've ever been so wrong about thinking a guy couldn't repeat a career year.

Especially Gilmartin. If there was a moment I felt like a crappy Mets team would break it was then.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 And, after we all crashed last night, the Pirates wound us losing to the Cubs in the 13th, giving up 2 runs to lose it after taking the lead in the top half. This was all after the Pirates had given up two in the 8th then one more in the 9th just to send it to extras. Hmmmm, ya think maybe dealing off Mark Melancon for a mediocre lefty and some 22 y/o in A-ball in the midst of a pennant race wasn't such a good idea after all?So, in the great WC chase of 2016, last night's win means that we caught one team that started yesterday ahead of us (MIA), gained a game on another (PIT), gained a half game on one (SFG), and stayed neutral with one (StL)Also brought the Dodgers one game closer in case they should happen to stumble out of the West lead and back into the WC shuffle.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 One thing about Montero's start was that he was definitely getting squeezed by the ump (in fairness, both pitchers were). With a bigger strike zone he might have gone longer.Good thing they won it in the 10th, because any longer would have been a disaster.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
