I checked the Uni Watch page, and his main concern is less the attempted snakeskin tapering (that creates the bloody cuffs effect), so much as how dark the grey pants are, making them look like umpire pants. Combining them with the black tops could create an embarrassing situation.

The D'Backs have a road combo that uses those dark slate grays for both top and bottom.
