The Mets spent a the bulk of the season without a lefty specialist (clutches pearls) and then they acquired Eric O'Flaherty. And promptly spent the rest of the season without a lefty specialist.

Sometimes, you think you're buying low, but the stock just continues to plummet. Poor Eric.

But poor Mets, who gave up Dawrin Frias, one of their more evolved prospects.

Just kidding. He had been doing as bad as Eric, but in A ball. Oakland didn't use him at all after the trade, so maybe he's being re-conditioned.

I just remember being constantly disappointed by him. He failed to live up to our middling hopes for him.

I have vague memories of his being highly O'Flammable.

I think g-fafif remarked he was even less effective against lefties than the man he succeeded in the No. 44 jersey, John Mayberry.

I think in general I'll remember him and Tim Stauffer if at all as guys they had around because they were really determined to save starter innings

As a lefty specialist, I figured they really hoped he'd find a way to pitch his way into the post-season picture.

I remember him being a chuck and duck pitcher. I don't recall him having one good outing.

Let Marlins back into a blowout in his first week, never got it together thereafter. Good night, funnyman.

I remember suggesting, after one of his bad outings (really any outing, just pick one) that the Mets should employ him as a batting practice pitcher to instill confidence in our hitters. He could do more to help the team in that role than he could by appearing in games in games.
