Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Vote for the tabloid covers that you like the best. You may select up to three choices. Voting will run for seven days.As spring training begins, Lucas Duda, perhaps uncharacteristically, is confident that he'll have a big year.Matt Harvey shows up, ready to begin his comeback from Tommy John surgery.Curtis Granderson says the Mets can reclaim the affections of New Yorkers. Can Terry Collins live up to higher expectations this year?Harvey throws to hitters for the first time.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Wow, I guess I'm a Post guy. I like the Duda and Grandy shots and the Harvey 2.0 one, I like that angle where the glove is titled down like that. Classic pitching pose.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 The Duda pic is my favorite. Also went with Harvey 2.0.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Smack, Citi, Matt for me this round.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 SMACK TALK - because it was so un-Duda-likeNY CITI - because it foreshadowed Grandy's role as emerging team leaderNOW OR NEVER - because it boldly stepped-up the expectationsThe Harvey covers, by contrast, were either redundant or seemed liked headlines in search of a story
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 I voted for N.Y. CITI because it was the most eye-catching, and MATT SIGNS because I liked the unorthodox angle.I noticed that of all of these early Harvey covers, there's no mention yet of Batman. It will be interesting to see when that first surfaces. (I've collected these covers but haven't analyzed them at all.) I suspect that as we get deeper into the season, it will be a rare Matt Harvey cover that doesn't allude to Batman in some way.

I wouldn't be surprised if it only shows up there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Look at us, getting 42 votes. In a goofy poll too (no offense). The Pool is viable again.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 No offense taken. It's totally goofy. It's not at all the intent of this Derby, but I'm hoping it can be a factor in getting some recent returnees to stick around.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 "Mets Playoff Expectations Put Collins on Hot Seat" Guess that seat cooled down considerably.
