Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 You wanna be a big game pitcher Mattman? Well, let's see what you can do. This is your most important game, until the playoffs. Don't give me that 5 inning crap. If it's a tight game and you wuss out you will be appearing on my list of shits.[fimg=400:8tzirxcr]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nBTlDMxFXuQ/VT4EUcvbz4I/AAAAAAAAZcA/wYOCmb1f6mA/s640-Ic42/HarveyEVE-z15.png[/fimg:8tzirxcr]
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 True dat. Let's not spot the other team a 6 run lead this time either. I like the thread title Ashie Larry.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 GAME: New York Yankees (81-66) at New York Mets (84-64)DATE/TIME: Sunday, September 20 - 8:08 PM ESTWHERE: Citi Field, New York City, New YorkLINE: N/A TOTAL: N/ACovers Media Group, Ltd.The New York Mets arent sure how many more starts they will get out of ace Matt Harvey, but they hope for something special from the right-hander in the rubber match of a three-game series with the visiting New York Yankees on Sunday. Harvey limited the Yankees to two runs over 8 2/3 innings in a win earlier this season but isnt likely to go nearly as deep this time he is within 8 1/3 innings of the 180-inning limit agent Scott Borass has suggested for his client. Not knowing what they can expect from Harvey is a difficult situation for the Mets, who remain seven games clear of Washington in the National League East and have trimmed their magic number to eight to clinch the division. The Yankees are safely entrenched as the top wild card in the American League but have some work to do to catch AL East leader Toronto, which has a 3 1/2-game cushion. Weve been fighting and fighting, Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters. I think in a sense weve been playing playoff baseball for a while. The Yankees had lost seven of 10 before homers from Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann powered them to a 5-0 victory Saturday.TV: 8:08 p.m. ET, ESPNPITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH CC Sabathia (4-9, 4.93 ERA) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (12-7, 2.88)Sabathia is coming off one of his best outings in a difficult season, having held Tampa Bay scoreless over 6 2/3 innings on Monday. He didnt get enough support to earn the win, though, and is winless in nine starts since July 8. Sabathia is 3-2 with a 3.49 ERA in six career starts against the Mets, but they hammered him for seven runs and nine hits over five innings in a loss earlier this season. Harvey is making his first start since Sept. 8, when he endured a nightmare outing by allowing seven runs and eight hits over 5 1/3 innings at Washington. The Mets rallied to get him off the hook, but the poor performance didnt sit well with Mets fans given the 26-year-olds innings-limit controversy. Harvey has been outstanding in two starts in the Subway Series, going 1-0 with a 1.62 ERA.WALK-OFFS:1. Beltran went 2-for-4 with three RBIs on Saturday but is only a .207 hitter in 25 career games against the Mets.2. Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes, who is 1-for-11 with four strikeouts against Sabathia, is hitless in 16 at-bats over his past four games. 3. Mets RH Tyler Clippard has been unavailable out of the bullpen the past two games after experiencing back tightness while playing catch Friday.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 My suspicion is that if Harvey pitches well tonight, the Harvey-hating brigade will say he was just "auditioning for his future team."
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I'm guessing the innings limit won't come into play because he'll be knocked out in the 4th inning. He'll come up small like he did against the Nats. Not rooting for this mind you, but I think Harvey has this innings stuff in his head right now.And who's the long man tonight? They used Gilmartin yesterday and Verrett's pitching Tuesday for deGrom. If the Dark Knight doesn't go at least 6 this may cause issues.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Dillon Gee?Oh, wait, never mind.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 And by the looks of how things are going in Washington, we're gonna need this one.

Well, the game's not over, so it still could happen. And the Washington team that doesn't want to give up their perpetual Native American insult also won.Later

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 What's the Over/Under on pitchers and 2nd basemen used by Girardi tonight?Yesterday the totals were 7 & 4 for a game that was never close after the 3rd batter.Managers just learning the non-DH game are so cute, they're like kids with a new toy employing double switches at each opportunity whether it makes any sense or not.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Mets announcers were all "It's not Girardi's fault it's the system that allows him to do it."Come on, men. Don't be Girardipologists!I'm hoping he uses fifty pitchers tonight, of course.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Crap! Boston beat the Jays again today. Girardi might use 60 pitchers.Later
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 This late night game after an early day game is a killer. So much time to wallow in the pathetic offensive showing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Yeah, day game Saturday and night game Sunday just doesn't compute at all.And the official start time is listed as "8:08 PM." Seriously? 8:08?
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 A tribute to the acid house pioneers 808 State, no doubt.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Drinking game: Every time you hear the ESPN announcers say the words "Pitch count," take a sip. If you take a full drink, you'll be blotto by the bottom of the first. Is there something wrong with Granderson? Seems like an odd night to give him a rest and put Tejada in the leadoff spot.

I know Lags hasn't been the best at the plate but I'd still give him this lead-off opportunity. Mostly because they were grooming him to be a lead off guy back in spring training.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 OE: Murph goes with the more traditional 8:10 start.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Nice K.And the total opposite pitch from what Kruk said was coming.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 I'm not gonna last long on tv, that strike zone is too much like avideo game for my taste.
