Well deGrom was a little wincey there but he's still throwing darts. He's, you know, good at baseball and things.

Limpy, too.

I'm not sure, but when you look at balls-in-play:base-hits, the Padres may be having the least successful evening in the history of defense. That's counting Spangenberg's jumping snag.

Murphy 4 fer 4! That was right on the line!

Could you imagine on this day (of all days) if TC had to make a similar decision with deGrom? Like if he got up past 110 with a no-no still going?

deGrom will get one, I believe that, and more sooner than later. But not tonight.

Seems like a bunch of Padres are getting tossed!

All the Padres are getting thrown out of the game. yay!

Hear that?"Whoa,whoa, now you're gone!"

Gah, just Kemp and the manager were tossed.

WHOA! What a catch by deGrom!

With virtually all their outs coming via strikeouts, the Mets are going to wind up with an outrageous BABiP for tonight's game.
It's going to be a very strange line score indeed.

Padres with only 2 hits. And you see/hear all the Mets fans there? Very nice.

June 1, 2010: Jon Niese v. San Diego. Complete game, 1 hitter. Game score: 91.
June 1, 2012: Johan. Game score: 90.
Tonight, June 1, 2015: deGrom. Game score: 86.

We should play more games on June 1.

Was anything mentioned about it in the post-game interviews? Nothing on Geico-Sports Night this morning. Since he stayed in the game, it looks like it was just a twinge. (knocking wood)

He fielded with aplomb afterwards, so I imagine he's fine.

Had some hard-hit balls in the late innings but his fielders did their jobs.

Which is more than I can say for San Diego. I couldn't get over how much Matt Kemp had lost. When the Mets had Moiss Alou, 41 and half crippled, he was giving them more than Kemp was giving his team last night. That is one bad outfield all the way across. Seeing Curtis Granderson go back on the ball and comparing him to Kemp was like day and night. And he's only Curtis Granderson.

Here's hoping the big guy is back in the lineup tonight, but it was good to know they can score seven times without him. Still and all, with the 16 strikeouts, I fear that the inferior defense by the Gaslighters was making the Mets look better than they were, relatively speaking.

I've got to think that when the Dodgers sent Kemp over, they robbed San Diego blind. He's only 30!

Met batters made 8 outs in the field last night.
16 Ks plus 3 runners erased on DPs took care of the other.

Non Ks:
1st inning: Granderson popped out
3rd: Murphy caught stealing
5th: Plawecki FO to RCF
6th: Granderson lined out to 2nd
7th: Ceciliani lined into DP
8th: Lagares GO, deGrom GiDP
9th: Tejada Foul Out, Murphy Line Out

Not understanding why deGrom didn't get a chance at the shutout.

If there's anything I took out of yesterday it's that Collins is still paranoid over letting Santana complete the no-hitter.

He was laboring in the 8th. Three ball counts to 3 of the 4 batters faced.

Honestly, I would have pulled him too based on the eye ball test. I don't believe it to be pitch count related. The kid was just gassed.

San Diego and Arizona are sub-.500 clubs, they play sub-.500 at home, and I don't want to hear any of the stupid self-fulfilling prophecies about how hard it is to win during west-coast road trips. Mets need to go ?5-2 on this stretch.

Did this memo go out??
