Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 WOOHOO! Quite a news day for our Mets.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 He's on SNY for a "Day of deGrom" thing, in-studio for about a half-hour of chatting. Appearances can be deceiving, granted, but there's a strong aw-shucks good-guy waft around this one.He could use a better conditioner, though.

I'd have him-- and maybe Panik-- ahead of Wong.Fboy asked if we could watch the live presentation of the award tonight and jumped up and down when they announced DeGrom as the winner. He said, "Now, at least, I know I'll be able to get a DeGrom jersey shirt next year!" as he wanted one this past summer but we could not find them at Citi. Also, he was wondering why D'Arnaud wasn't a finalist and I told him, incorrectly, that he didn't qualify because he had played too many games in the pros in 2013. Like I know what the fuck I'm talking about.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 deGrom is really likeable and awkward in this SNY special. He's like the anti-Harvey.If I get a jersey during my adult life, there's a good chance it will be deGrom.

You'd figure that a guy within our own division scoring ROY points and who shut us down four times (4 G vs NYM, 4 IP, 2 hits, 5 K) while having a hand in half of the six Philly wins against us would at least have his name ring a bell, but I guess that underscores the phutility of the Phillies this past year. They didn't even garner enough passion to hate this year, instead they were just ignored. The only thing to admire about the 2014 Phils is that they were able to win their season series vs the Nats (10 wins - 9 losses) while we were going a pitiful 5-14
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Oh, now he's ringing a bell. I guess. Is he related to the Warren Giles family? Or perhaps the Brian Giles family? How about the other Brian Giles family?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 And while we're at it, WTF is the Antelope Valley Press and why does one of their writers get a vote for ROY?It sounds like if it were a New York City paper, they's be giving it out free at subway stations.Later
