This is, or was, the true test for Bobby Parnell. Couldn't be any more pressure packed. I have a new respect.
GREAT JOB MR. PARNELL!

Is it mandatory for the SNY booth to gush over the fucking yankees all night?

agree with Ashie, Bobby was great.

Gained a game on the entire division tonight (Hey, I'll take my wins where I can get them) plus the entire AL East gained a game on the Yanx.

That's like dectuptle happiness!!

Missed most of this game as we were soaking up some AAA ball here in the 'Cuse. Tuned in on XM for Duda's K and Parnell's finish on the drive home. LGM!

Nice to get a win these days, against these guys, after leaving a bunch of runs on the table. (Also, and I can't believe I'm saying this... though not in any AB that ended up mattering, Hughes got squeezed a bit in those middle innings, as Culbreth's zone waxed and waned a little.)

But, yeah... first dinosaurs at the zoo (!), then platonic-ideal burgers and guacamole and adult-lemonades, then this on DVR-warp-speed; just one of those bee-yoots of a day, all-around.

Saw that Murph-getting-sawed-off-by-Hughes play. Totally missed this... like my brain refused to register the dumb-itude.

C'mon, Keith.

Eh, it's a common enough metaphor. Sensitive? Not really, but I it would suck to decide after decades of common usage, to decide that 300 millonth user of the expression is suddenly the jerk.

I know. I know.

But, man alive, of all the times to dust that one off... ON MEMORIAL DAY?

Keith being Keith. Cliche, but apt, I think.

He's like the flipside of Gary Carter. Carter could be unself-aware. Keith can sometimes be unaware of anybody else.

Granted. But, still, it just seems like a weird locution for a ballfield, and maybe-- especially taking the strangeness of it AND the potential for misunderstanding into account-- one of the least apt metaphors I've ever heard from a PBP dude.

If I'm being obtuse, I swear that's unintentional. Honestly, I've only ever heard it to describe beer bottles/cans, and I'm fairly sure I've never heard it on a sporting field of any kind.

I'm sure when it was brought to his attention that he used an old baseball phrase with such ill timing, he realized how this could be true and winced. But I think to portray it as anything more than what it was is going overboard. Stupid? No. In appropriate? If you want to make it so.

I heard it on broadcast and didn't make anything of it at all.

Twitters saying this was Wright pulling a Ryan Howard, pulling a Babe Ruth. The kid (so sez the Twittery source, which is what it is) asked Wright to hit a homerun, Wright said he'd try, and KABOOM!

Life is good if you can get them front-row seats.

But dang, give him the hat, David.

Please. The Wilpons would have a canary if David started giving away limited-edition memorabilia.

The Wilpons don't care, but he would be literally stealing from veterans.

Holy crap wow.

David Wright may be boring, but am I ever proud to have a guy like that on our team. Awesome. Deserves its own thread.

I'm just amazed that the Yanx agreed to participate in what was obviously an MLB-wide charity/marketing event for Memorial Day.
Usually they simply dismiss anything that wasn't their own idea, may seem to tarnish their beloved pinstripes, or that makes it seem like they're in cooperation with those other lesser clubs who aren't really in their league.

I have to include this pic of Gardners catch for the record. I'm a big fan of the leather and it was an amazin' catch.Don't expect me to be all photoshoppinTributin' it up though.

To me it doesn't look as impressive in pics and replays as it actually was, for some reason.
Below is the best pic out there atm.
