Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Adam Wainright on the mound for the Cardinals. It's almost unfair to send this lineup up against him.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Jordany Valdespin RFDaniel Murphy 2BDavid Wright 3BIke Davis 1BLucas Duda LFJohn Buck CRick Ankiel CFRuben Tejada SSJonathon Niese LHPWainwright instructed by Collins to plunk Valdespin, lest he get too comfortable. Also, it will give the Mets a leadoff baserunner.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Did they remember to ask Valdespin first if he wanted to play today?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Thought it'd be a Recker day.Hundleyesque workload that Buck is getting so far.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I'd swap Duda and Ike, or even put Duda in front of Wright. If all he does is walk or hit a homer, put him in front of David anyway. Ike - Duda - Buck - Ankiel... you gotta break that fearsome, foursome up somehow.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I'm all about moving Duda up. I stand on street corners in a scary homemade Mr. Met costume passing out leaflets.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Duda didn't have a great game yesterday but his recent slump to me looks like hitting into a bad luck more than anything. Have to be encouraged that Muffy seems to be breaking out again. If Terry wants to do some lineup magic he could do worse than bat Muffy leadoff when he's hot.

Only 2 in his last seven games (2 games were just a PH) He only has two walks in that time though, and three in May. I don't know if that means bad luck or buying into this more aggression thing or simply pressing too hard on a team that's struggling. But of all the hitters struggling it's Duda I have the most faith in in any given day. He's 1/26 when he puts the ball in play. Only once in May has he hit the ball and it's hit grass before seats or glove.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Let's just say that I'm not running out and buying myself an Ankiel jersey....
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 What do you call that mustache-free goatee that Murph's wearing? PS - Wainwright's socks are the shit.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Poor Ike just completely suxxx

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Touch.Edit: Looks like it's actually called the goatee (or the TransMonk), and what I thought was the goatee is the Van Dyke. I wanna see a Met wearing the Dali.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 This is the first, and now,as I type, second, end-of-inning lead we've had in this series. Now all we have to master is that situation where you have the lead at the point where the game actually ends. I think they call that a WIN but it's been so long that I can't quite remember.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 You know what I find impressive*? The Mets, as of this moment, are closer (strictly in the loss column) to first place than last.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I'm skeptical about Ike batting cleanup.Great spot for Niese to snap out of it.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 HOLY CRAP..WE ARE WINNING 2-1 IN THE FIFTH!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Whatever he lost, Muffy has suddenly found it. Lead us Muffo!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I'm skeptical about Ike hitting major league pitching.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Except that it's gotten to the point where it seems like one of us would look better up there.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Ankiel makes what looks to be the 19th bad base-running decision of the series but gets away with it as the 3B ump incorrectly rules it touched by a fan down the LF line therefore a GR 2B
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Tejada breaks an 0-for-15.We are back. Almost.
