Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I guess this is a pretty good decision by Tony LaRussa. Cain is clearly the better pitcher here.I mean, if you ignore the fact that Dickey has more wins, fewer losses, a lower ERA, lower WHIP, and struck out more batters.Other than that Cain is clearly the better pitcher.

duan Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 yeah I'm of same opinion as metirish - tbh the Dickey being there is the achievement,
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 it's an achievement. So Is the Mets being competitive in September. Give me more.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) The Mets being competitive in September in not an achievement, it's a birth right. Edited July 9, 2012 by Guest

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I read there was concern that Buster Posey wouldn't be able to handle the knuckler. Stinks.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Great. We get the shaft twice. I hope this quietly and personally pisses off R.A. and in the 2nd half he's like : "I'll show em who's the best" and he racks up another 12 or more wins.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Posey's a Pussy!Buster Posey thankful he doesn't have to catch Dickey's knuckleball
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Where's Warren Giles to strip Posey of his designation and replace him with Josh Thole when we need him?

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Knuckle on this:http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN201007290.shtmlRA's only decision against La Russa: 8 1/3 winning innings of shutout ball on 7/29/10. K-Rod with the save; and an Ike 3-run blast.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I'll be honest: The ASG has so little integrity as a serious athletic event, and what with it being a television show disguised as a game, I expected Dickey would get a start primarily because the NY fans deserved a "make up" from the scammy voting process and also because it better served the bullshit narrative. Skills/stats/etc never entered into my mind, and really, choosing one of either Cain or Dickey to throw 2 innings isn't much of a advantage-blunter anywhoo. In other words, I'm shocked!

Met Hunter Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Posey's a Pussy!Buster Posey thankful he doesn't have to catch Dickey's knuckleballI like this quote at the end:Dickey acknowledged Monday that he was disappointed about being passed over."I think it would have been fantastic for the Mets, and for our fans'' he said. "But being here is still an honor. Matt Cain is incredibly deserving."

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Hopefully the Cy Young Award will go to Dickey instead.
