Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 i guess this is good news, sort of... in an "at least he ain't Schwinden or Batista" kind of way.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I'm thinking a good inning tonight gets him the chance of a second inning up here. Demote Schwinny and have Carrasco around in case you need a reliever or spot start till the spot comes up again. Have Acosta and Batista sweat it out a few days.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Thole headed to NYC for further tests, no roster move yet but he won't be around tonite.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Pitching prospect Zach Wheeler should be ready to come off the minor league DL soon. He was on it for a torn fingernail. This is the second time this has happened in his minor league career.I'd get the kid a large supply of Gelatin and an hour-long session with Dr. R.A. Dickey on the care of finger nails.Later

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 There's got to be more to Lucroy's hand injury than the reported story of a lost sock under a hotel room bed and his wife moving a heavy suitcase.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Halladay shut down minimum 3 weeks w grade 1-2 shoulder ( right latissimus dorsi) strain. Phillies hope to have him back 6-8 weeks.I think they're hoping Worley is back in a moment to replace him.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 The Mets have a real opportunity here.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Howie Rose reporting on air that Josh Thole, DHing for Buffalo tonight, was pinch-hit for early. No explanation yet.Concussions are the injury that don't stop fucking you. Someone bean Wiggy in the face for causing this one!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Thole update: was actually held out before the game as opposed to being pinch-hit. Still no word on why.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Thole now in the game.Jenrry Mejia, first start at AAA on the long road back from Tommy John surgery, 68 pitches (45 for strikes) in 6 innings of 2-hit ball (1 walk, 2 Ks).
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I heard about this situation and kept imaging Capt Renault and some of the Nazis hanging around Casablanca asking Josh: "Vhere are your papers?"

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 The chucker also tossed six shutout innings, with both hits he allowed never getting out of the infield.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Klapisch: Young did well in three rehab outings at High-A Port St. Lucie but seems likely to be exposed now that he's moved on to Triple-A Buffalo. The 33-year-old right-hander seems doubtful to make any sort of impact in the major leagues this season.Young today in his AAA start: 6 IP, 2 H (as Edgy said, none out of the infield), 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K, 87 pitches, 50 strikes.Per Rubin's tweets, his velocity was still 82-84 this morning, but he also points out that his fastball wasn't much more than that in his 2011 starts with the Mets and in 2010 with the Padres. In any case, he has not yet been "exposed" by AAA hitters. Klapisch is a dick.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Oh to live in a world where Klapisch is exposed when writing in any town above A ball.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Can any of us remember the last time Klapisch wrote anything positive about the Mets?WaitingAnyone?Bueller?(birds chirping)See what I mean?Consider the source. I can just picture him grinning broadly while he wrote that. His source was probably a Yankee fan, who is hoping that Mets will release Young so the Yanks can pick him up.Later
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 any man whose name is comprised of the slang terms for a venereal disease and urine, and then writes like it, should shun public exposure at all costs.

There's so much good baseball writing out there that it seems a waste of everyone's time to repost, retweet, comment or link to things by people like this.
