Santana had thrown 105 pitches but he mowed them down the last several innings. There was no frigging reason to take him out other than a) pitch count or he said he was tired (which he wouldn't). Of course, don't forget bases loaded, nobody out, and no runs.

I had posted before that Santana hadn't been bested by another team's ace yet this year. I guess you could say he was here, although I don't know if that's fair, given how he was lifted prematurely by his manager.
