Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I haven't started an IGT this year. Let's see if I have any mojo.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Some background on R.A.:http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/27/sports/baseball/27dickey.htmlI think I posted this before, when Dickey faced the Mets a couple of years ago, but of course anything by Alan Schwarz is worth a re-read.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 As far as I can tell, R.A. is the first Dickey to play for the Mets since Dicky Gonzalez. At 6'2" (compared to 5'11") he is the biggest Dickey to play for the Mets. This goes for girth too (215 lbs. compared to 170 lbs.). But he will be the first to tell you that his size is not important, and that movement is much more important to his success. In fact, after finishing his one-hitter in Buffalo last month, reports were that "his stuff was all over the place". As a knuckleballer, he can't match up in sheer power, but he does make up for it in stamina, lasting much longer than others. His recovery time is short. Rumor has it that after a quick nap, he's ready for action again. Not sure of any religious affiliation, but we do know that he's been cut several times.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Wright at least last night seemed to think sitting was the worst thing for him, but maybe he needs to be slapped around a little.

I wouldn't be surprised if he argues his way into the lineup.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 One day, soon, we may have to admit that Castillo's defense doesn't suck. Nice play fielding a grounder off Ike's glove to get Nyjer Friggin' Morgan.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Are there any other ex-teammates Angel can hit inside-the-park homers against?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 that was awesome, did it touch Morgan's glove when he jumped or go clean off the wall?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Ironically, a lesser defensive centerfielder than Morgan would have probably realized that one was beyond him and played it more conservatively.I'd be curious to see if the other outfielder were hustling all the way to back it up, though. At any rate, that was tremendous hustle by Pagan and hopefully it lights a spark
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Angel making a play for some serious Schaefer tonight.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 great catch by Pagan to help Dickey get out of it with only 2 runs. (why do feel that if the Mets had loaded the bases with nobody out they'd score one run at most?)

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 TRIPLE PLAY!!!terrible job by the umps not making a more emphatic call, the baserunners had no idea what was up there.
