Guest mario25 Guests Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 A long time Mets fan asked me today if I would trade Wright for Hanley Ramirez after this week's Ramirez showing in Florida and Wright's offensive woes. I am a big Wright fan but I think it would be something to think about. What do you guys think??
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah I would , Ramirez is the better player IMO.His current shenanigans while disturbing wouldn't be a deal breaker. What about Reyes though?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Wright? No, because of the position fit. Reyes? Probably.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Despite his problems the last couple of days, why on earth would the Marlins do this?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 They wouldn't but some folks just enjoy posing these questions.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I'd also trade Wright for Albert Pujols.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Yeah, I know, and I would make the trade. My question about Hanley is I don't know if he has a defensive position long-term.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 A one-time Red Sox manager, when asked how he would get along with Ted Williams, replied, "Any manager who can't get along with a .400 hitter is crazy".OK, so Hanley isn't a .400 hitter, but he is arguably one of the top 5 players in the NL.And he is reportedly not very well liked by his teammates. And, IIRC, Ted never insulted one of his managers in public. The manager has said all the right things, agreeing that he never did play in the majors, and tried to sound conciliatory. I heard this morning that he is in line to replace Bobby Cox in Atlanta after this season. So he must be thought of as pretty good at what he does. But IMO it is time for the GM to make some sort of public announcement supporting the manager. As for trading Wright for him, I wouldn't. But if I were Omar, I'd listen closely if he was offered Ramirez for Reyes+.Hanley may be an asshole, but I would prefer that he was our asshole, rather than having to face him 18 times a year.Later
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I'd trade Reyes for Hanley in a heartbeat. It's a no-brainer and it also means that the Marlins will never do it. But you never know. We got Hernandez for a lot less mainly because Keith fell out of favor in St. Looey.

I HEAR HANLEY IS A HOMOPHOBE AND HATES FAKE BREASTS!(I love JoseX4 almost as much as anybody-- hell, I bought my daughter a Reyes shirt as her first piece of Metly attire. But of course you make this trade.)
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 i don't know if i would trade wright for hanley ramirez, but i'd certainly trade him for dontrelle willis and miguel cabrera.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I would probably pull the trigger on a Ramirez for Wright deal. I would definitely make a Reyes for Ramirez swap.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Andre Dawson (special instructor in sunny florida, nice gig if you can get it) apparently ripped hanley a new asshole the other day after his bullshitthey were discussing it on-air tonight but i missed the exact words.
