Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Freaking strange, isn't it? I'd have to put my money on No.

I'm just saying that the local-boy-made-good thing isn't plucking at my heartstrings a bit for this one. He wasn't doing the job in spring training, and they went with him anyway, in large part (presumably) because of the advantage he had over other 25th man candidates in positional versatility. He's played one game in the field so far this year.Catalonatto also played a few innings of left field this season -- not that this omission detracts from the main of your sensible post.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Nope, Catalanotto is the only Met to bat cleanup in his one and only start for the team.TRIVIA QUESTION: Who's the one guy to make his one and only Metly start as a leadoff hitter?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 McKay is a good guess, as his 2002 frat brother Mark Little. I don't think either are correct, though.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 And to clarify what is implied, all others are not good guesses. Terrible, in fact.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 HINT: The one start at leadoff for this guy was in the 2000's decade. He's an outfielder who totaled four hits, and one homer, in 13 at bats as a Met.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 DING!Esix Snead is correct. Circle gets the square.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I was going to guess Jason Tyner until you mentioned the homer. I don't think Tyner could hit a homer if he batted from second base.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I was at both Snead's sole start and the extra-inning game he won with his home run. Yes, I lead a rich, full life.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Wow, Jermaine Allensworth really was a bad guess.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 I clicked to the third page of this thread first and saw the answers before I saw the question but would have guessed it was a rundown of Mets who wore No. 23 (Snead, Chrsitensen, Allensworth ... and Carter).

It was a hit down the line that just barely made it over.

As far as I can tell it was available for him. 23 is always a number I associate with Ventura even though he wore #4 for the Mets.
