I didn't know that Burkhardt's home post-game winning interview are played over the sound system at CF--that's a nice touch.

I think they only do it for walkoff home runs, which would mean this was the first time.

Romo gives up a lot of HR's to righthanded batters and has reverse platoon splits in general, so walking Davis to get to Barajas was a bad idea on paper and in practice.

Citi doesn't look so intimidating for hitters now, does it?

G-Fafif was right:

For those that asked - it was first time we did interview and put it on the scoreboard. Judging from fan reaction, may happen more often.

Barajas debuts in the last post on this page.

They got that interview up real fast so there were a LOT of people still there to see/hear it and cheer Rod. His curtain call of sorts. Very nice touch.

I'd need to see the replay but my sense was that Whiteside had to have stepped out of the batter's box to even swing at the pitchout and therefore should have been the one called for interference. I sure would've liked to see Jerry at least argue that one.

I realize Nieve worked out but with Pelfrey at about 85 pitches, I was not in favor of lifting him in the 8th.

Walkoffs are lots of fun!

In a sense, though, Nieve didn't work out, because once you go that path, you are in the delusion of Operation Shutdown. Once entering the pen, you cannot turn back, so you better be certain you've got better going forward than your starter is offering.

I'm not saying the Mets didn't have more than Pelfrey going forward (though it turns out they didn't). It's just not a sin to have faith in your starter and be as willing to lose on that faith as you are willing to lose on your faith in the pen.

I would've left Pelfrey in. I always want to leave the starter in, particularly when it's an error and a bloop. If he's getting hit hard, it's one thing. can't even use the 'tired' argument because he didn't even have that many pitches. I understand Manuel is contractually obligated to have Pedro and Fernando warm up every single game, and that they've been pretty effective and then you supposedly have the lockdown closer thing..(DON'T SHAKE OFF BARAJAS!) but I think generally leaving your starter in falls under "If it ain't broke..."

Assuming he got out of it with the lead, I also would've left him in for the ninth.

He tweeted that it was the first time and judging from the reaction they will do it again.

I missed this shit for a night w/ a chick that didn't pan out anyway. Always choose Mets, dude. Sometimes anyway.

Great IGT, peeps.[/quote:1gfe2pj8]

Friday nights are tricky for us... I was running around, watching the kids, running errands. Caught Ike's 2nd HR in the car but missed much of the early going. Finally got the kids settled in in time for the 8th and 9th innings, so I got to see the end.

SWANNY: Davis second... against Sanchez? A little sink-or-swim there for the young lefty, no?[/quote:1jkdmkxe]
