bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Murphy has a sprained right knee and is day-to-day. This is a shame as he just starting hitting. Does this mean that Ike will return or they will go with either Jacobs or Carter?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 If he's truly day-to-day (and it's not one of those things that will become month-to-month) then he may still be ready by next week, and it wouldn't have to have an impact on the roster.
Guest GYC Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 According to annoying beat writers on Twitter, Mets say if it's a long-term thing, expect Ike Davis on OD.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Wow. Could be Rey Sanchez all over again.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Expect Davis to OD , WTF is going on with this team?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Good for the Mets for building an army of alternatives.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Daniel Murphy, thy name is Wally Pipp?It doesn't quite have the same ring to it.Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Yeah, let's not get too carried away. This is a bad thiing.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Jacobs is starting today. So... there's that.Garko/Carter or Garko/Jacobs are looking like pretty sweet backup tickets right about now.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Mike Hessman reads your post and dies a little.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Popper says he's going for an MRI. sounds like the doom and gloom right now is just based on how much he was limping, which is hardly scientific. Guess they'll see by the results if it's day by day and a Carter/Jacobs replacement temporarily, or long term and possibly Davis.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 So all joking aside , who , what and why will take his place?

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 This sucks.I really don't want to see Jacobs. It's too early for Ike.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 2-3 weeks probably isn't gonna be an IKe thingy. I'm sure the Mets like Jacobs more; he's getting so much more PT.

I expect the Mets do take Jacobs, thought I think they should take Catalanotto and Carter. They can be our own little CC.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Cattalanatto (gonna have to learn to spell that in case he ever earns Schaefer points) isn't going to hit enough to merit any serious time at 1B. His value is in his (supposed) versatility. They should keep Carter, who not only provides a RH bat [u:28u12urm]and[/u:28u12urm] can play in the OF, but he and Jacobs might just "run into a few" in the early weeks and provide some semblance of power over there (although we are leading the NL in ST HRs). Whoever is playing worse when Muffy is ready to return gets cut/traded/sent-down/sacrificed/skewered.Leave Davis at Buffalo for at least 200 ABs to get the reps he needs and then re-evaluate. The fact that this will also piss off the WFAN world is merely an added bonus.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Carter hits lefty, so it's always been tough to consider both he and Jake on the same squad, even with the Muffy thing.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 &And ALL the contenders currently on-roster-- Davis included, obvsly-- are lefties, JCL.OE: AA's got some disturbing Twitter screenshottage, courtesy of AdamRubinESPNisMyNewEmployer:Team confirms 2-6 weeks. (For Murphy)Minaya said will still have Ike Davis start at AAA. That could mean 2 of 3 from Jacobs, Carter, Catalanotto.Omar: "Jacobs is a veteran guy. Right now he's the frontrunner."
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I'm hoping this injury doesn't become Metly contagious.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 having tried tonight to come back from a MCL injury that I sustained 10 days ago I can safely say that 2 weeks would be ambitious. Fucking bastard thing went first time I put it under pressure, and I'm only trying to play football at a moderate amateur level, not professional high performance type stuff. hurts in a nagging way and gets way too stiff during the day in work. back to RICE (Rest Ice Compression Elevate) for a few days.
