If you're a Mets fan with a Christmas stocking, you might have received one of those trivia-question-a-day calendars that the kids these days are so crazy about. You might have even gotten this one:



Well, who knows what kind of monkeys with typewriters write these thingies --- I imagine some 24-year-old entry-level dudes, who may well be fans of rival teams --- but whoever had the stick on the Mets project wasn't exactly reaching far back for his "trivia," nor necessarirly trying to spread the warm fuzzies during a cold winter.

Millan's season in 1975 was an interesting one:

He not only played, but started all 162 games and batted 2nd in the lineup in EVERY game.

He broke his own club record at the time with 676 at-bats.

He broke the club record for doubles with 37.

He broke his own club record for hits with 191.

He led the NL in HBP with 12.

He had four hits in a game three times.

He only struck out 28 times.

Here's the question: Even though 1975 was Millan's career year, there was one Met record he had set earlier that he did not break in 1975. What was it?

I would think the team has little clue. Any small amount of supervision over publications as these are problably done at the league office level. I could be wrong.

I was able to find a Mets wall calendar in a store out here after New Years -- 75 percent off, even! -- and was surprised that The Schneid was one of the featured players. Seems odd to highlight a player the whole world knew wouldn't be returning.



As for Beltran, when ESPN was discussing the surgery controversy, it kept showing that frozen strike over and over, practically in a loop. Considering all the things this player has done, that was terrible.

I imagine the Mets have better things to do than police for content all the things they slap their name on though. I mean the wall calendar features I think 5 Mets that are no longer Mets (Church was gone in like June right?)

Better question would be to mention how Beltran ranks in career postseason home runs against the Cardinals.
