Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Frankly, I don't think we'll have the answers we're looking for until Steve Phillips holds his fake press conference to address these rumors.Between this, Harold Reynolds a few years ago, and the endless cauldron of rumors about others... what is it about Baseball Tonight that turns mortal men into volcanic sex-gods who possess carnal thirsts that cannot be slaked via normal copulatory means?[/quote:zup0vqn2]Obviously, it's all the Jeter talk. That and all that bat-handling.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 For those of you looking to feed your worse angels... apparently feeling aggrieved by ESPN's handling of previous (and related) inquiries, Deadspin's going scorched-earth.And since the tenuous connection between rumor and fact for accuracy's sake has been a little eroded here, well, it's probably about time to just unload the inbox of all the sordid rumors we've received over the years about various ESPN employees. Chances are, at this point, there's some truth to them. We'll just throw 'em out there and see how many "no comments" or, you know, actual comments or "you would be completely wrongs" there are about these situations. http://deadspin.com/5386749/espn-the-worldwide-leader-in-sexual-depravity

They've supposedly cleaned up their act since and the suspension of Harold Reynolds sounds like it may even have been an over-compensation to distance themselves from those earlier days.A suspension during the LCS & WS can't be a great thing for Phillips' career or his future there. That's like a tax accountant not being able to work March & April.I wonder if Bobby V. is chuckling to himself right about now?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 The book was by Mike Freeman who writes for CBS Sportsline.According to the statements signed by Phillips, his wife, and their son, she's way more than "stalky", she's borderline Glenn Close. What I can't figure out is why Reynolds got fired for hugging when others have done far more.

But if her main "crime" was having sex while unattractive, then she really doesn't deserve any abuse for not being a hottie. If sex is restricted to the sexy, then many of us, including myself, are in trouble.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Sad story. Some people never seem to learn. My favorite reader comment to one of the articles:"No wonder the Mets fired Phillips as their GM, he obviously has no eye for talent."
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Phillips takes a leave of absence form espn and has this statement."I am deeply sorry that I have put my family and colleagues through this,'' he said in a statement, adding he wanted to "avoid any unnecessary distractions through the balance of the baseball playoffs.''caring about the playoffs seems odd , you ain't that important Phillips.
