Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I'm going with .371. I just don't think it's sustainable.1) He's never won a batting title (but did finish second last year, so it seems he's made some adjusments).2) He's traditionall a better hitter lefthanded. This year, his power is coming lefthanded, but his higher batting average righthanded. I don't think he'll continue to hit .432 as a rightie.3) The Georgia sumer can make people wilt. He's 36.He's certainly putting to rest any doubt that he's a Hall of Famer.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 .335he's 81 for 200 right now, if he gets another 400 ABs, and hits for his career average of .310 in those ABs (124 for 400) he'd be 205 for 600 (.342) so i'm discounting him a little from that number.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 .404. He goes 2-for-4 in his next game then dies.No...um, .335.Speaking of batting averages, I was reading the agate page in the Snooze this morning -- the only place left where I'd bother to look up batting averages -- and delighted in the fact that the NL Guys are KILLING the AL top 10, which I always root for but seldomly get. We got Chipper at 400 vs. their leader ... wait for it ... HIDECKI MATSUI at 320-something. Plus, the bottom few in the AL are in the 299s while we run down at 315ish.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I'll bid one dollar, Bob.Oh, wait..341
