Wow, it's hard to remember an era with Strawberry, Kingman & Foster all together at the heart of the order. Now if they were all together during their primes that would've been kickass.

Puts me in mind of the ads I saw at LIRR stations in '82 of how Kingman, Foster and Ellis Valentine were going to form a metaphorical utility and light up New York with all their power.

Timing is everything.

There was also a companion subway ad from that season promising Met fans all sorts of wonderful things that Swan, Falcone, Zachry and Scott were gonna do to the rest of the league. Now if only Davey Johnson coulda had Scott instead of Heep....

Wasn't that also the ad campaign used in 1977 after the Midnight Massacre?

Anybody who can find that Foster-Kingman-Valentine poster, please post it. If I remember it correctly, it's a good MbtN shot of their backs adorned with 15-26-17, ready to do some damage.

I think I can safely lock in the recollection that they hit 13, 37, and eight homers, respectively. Without checking, I can't tell you what Wright, Beltran, and Delgado hit last year.

I seem to remember it as the 1982 scorecard cover.
