Guest cooby Guests Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 My son and his girlfriend know I've been dreading the holidays this year, and today they surprised me by doing the decorating while I was out doing errands. It looks beautiful and it really does cheer me up.Anyway, I noticed while I was looking around tonight that tucked into the bottom right corner of my daughter's Penn State degree is a Mr Met baseball card. It's probably been there for months, who knows? No wonder she was a little snippy over Thanksgiving.Got any Mets stuff in weird places at your house?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Well, used to be that people called my house a weird place with Mets stuff. But now my wife has me pretty much trained to keep things in the baseball room in the basement. But, I do have a cool metal sign in the garage. It says "Mets Fans Parking Only. Yankee Fans Go Home." My folks found it for me last year.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 We tacked the Mr. Met t-shirt my little guy grew out of on his wall. I love it.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 In weird places? Nah, not really, but there is Mets crap all over my world. My son's room is chock full o' Mets stuff - pennants, lamp, posters, hats, balls, cards. The refrigerator in the basement has a Mets magnetic schedule from every year since 1994 stuck on it. My home office is adorned with an item or two including a ticket stub from Game 6 (wasn't there - someone gave it to me). My actual office in the City has one of those Mookie/Buckner autographed pictures and a ticket from Game 3 of the 2000 World Series and two game used balls - the first and only foul ball I ever got (Rockies 4, Mets 0 - at Shea 8/6/97 off the bat of 23 year-old rookie Todd Helton) and a ball Bill Robinson flipped to me after a game at Wrigley (Mets 5, Cubs 2 - 6/28/86).
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I have a Mets hooked rug that one of my daughters made for me.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Missus Edgy claims I have "Mets Tourette's." If I come into a room and forgot what I came for, I start trying to jog my memory by muttering Mets-based jibberish.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Mets In Weird Places:Well let's see ...- How 'bout Kevin Mitchell at SS?- Kaz Matsui at SS- HoJo in CF- Pete Harnisch on the opening day mound- Frank Tavaras hitting lead-off- Mike Piazza behind the plate- Dave Kingman with a glove on- Rich Becker on base- Mickey Lolich at a salad bar- Victor Zambrano OFF the disabled list- Doug Sisk with the bases empty- Mel Rojas in the 9th inning
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Don't forget Todd Hundley in left field. We also have Mets stuff scattered around the house. Mostly it's promotional stuff that I got when I was a regular at Shea back in the 1980's. (The one most frequently used is a Kahn's Franks Mets oven mitt. There's also a Tropicana Mets pitcher that we turn to once in a while.)When we were on Long Island for my grandmother's funeral a couple of weeks ago we went to the Smith Haven Mall and my daughter saw a Mr. Met light switch plate that she just had to have. It's now installed on her bedroom wall.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I had a Mets trash can for a few years that I had to throw away because the stench had become intolerable. I have a Mets apple clock on my desk, a Mets throw pillow, a Mets bottle opener, and Mets vs. Yankees checkers, among other things. I also have a plaque honoring the 2000 Mets I got at a mall years ago.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 "Don't forget Todd Hundley in left field"That one should have led off the list ... I hate it when I miss the gimme putts.

Guest cooby Guests Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Now ThAT sounds neat Seriously, where did you get that?PS, today when I got home I discovered my kitties felt the diplomas looked better on the floor than on the new table so they are now upstairs. The diplomas, not the kitties. At least Mr Met survived the ordeal.
