Glavine Back to the Braves

Assuming this is accurate, the timing of the deal is good as it means the Mets can safely offer arbitration when the deadline comes around and snag draft picks out of the deal.
Braves pick is #18 overall too which is almost the best pick one can pick up.

We're going to sorely miss those 200 innings next year. Can't wait to see who the 2008 Brian Lawrence/Jose Lima is going to be. Cuz right now it seems like he's going to get a lot of starts.

OM can sign Livan Hernandez who pitches 200 innings without a problem. Unlike Glavine, Livan will be happy to be a Met because his half-brother is on the team. Unlike Glavine, Livan's heart will reside, at least for '08, in Flushing, not in Atlanta. I also have confidence that Livan will do better than to give up 7 runs in one-third of an inning in an important game.

Glavine's whole brother was a Met.

So the Braves give their division rival a first round pick for one year of a guy well into his forties who had a 4.45 ERA in a pitchers' park in the NL, and who just changed the most appropriate word to describe complete and abject failure in a critical baseball game from "Buckneresque" to "Glavinesque." Um, sure, thanks. May we rip off many teams like that this offseason.

See ya, sucka. Looking forward to lighting him up four or five times this year.

How great is this? Brad Lidge and Tom Glavine are the two key pitchers added to our two biggest rivals! Nice.

I don't know how to insert a chart the fancy way that some of you do. I pulled the numbers for the last 3 seasons. I was surprised that Livan is 32 years old (really?). Glavine has indeed been better than Livan over the past 3 seasons. Maybe there are better alternatives out there than Livan. All I know is that a) he wants to play at Shea B) he's a FA so no trade has to be made and c) he doesn't have a home in Atlanta.

I like to watch Livan pitch but would prefer not for our team.

As for Glavine, scram. See your ass at Shea next year. Bring your earplugs.

Let's not start acting as if those are the two worst pitchers in MLB all of a sudden.

In other news, MLB has announced the renewed expansion of the strike zone by 5 inches toward first base....

Exactly.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

And just think, after we incorporate our 2007 rankings into the existing list and then recalculate the whole thing, Glavine will move up a handful of spots (looks like to around 29th) meaning that you'll eventually get to be him again!!

I just hope that when he pitches against the Mets that treat him like the Braves did when he was pitching for the Mets.

Because if they don't I swear I'll be pulling my hair completely out of my head.

does anyone honestly believe than Livan is only 32? I'd start the bidding at 35...

I'd love to get through to Steve Sommers sometime, never have managed that. I don't want to waste time on mike and the idiot, i tried calling them once to rebuke their idiotic assertion that Carlos Delgado (and by extention all puerto ricans) is not a citizen, but i didn't get through.
