Send the rain down here if you don't want it. We will gladly take it, even over the weekend. We are in the midst of a drought down herem and the 100+ degree temperatures aren't helping matters either.

A few Mets victories wouldn't hurt either. Well, a sweep of the Marlins may not help the plants and crops much, but they would sure improve my disposition.

Looks to be getting brighter out there,at least here in Westchester, should be fine by game time, cold I bet though.

Come on you Mets....

I actually wouldn't mind a rainout. Could give them a chance to rest up the bullpen (used somewhat heavily this week) and reflect on the general suckiness of a large part of the series vs. ATL.

I'm not going to give them a pass for yesterday, but I don't want to draw to much from it. A sweltering day like that, anything can happen. Maine goes through the order pretty well the first time, and leaves two a little too far over the plate to two great hitters and they made him pay. Kelly Johnson got on base before that by a popup falling in.

I'm more pissed about Hudson getting that run home with the bunt and generally with the Braves getting those two tack-ons, but if Willie Harris is a tickle slower, it's a different ballgame.

Nobody dominated. It could have gone either way. Beltran's coming back, Milledge is getting better every day, and nobody can bust a 41-year-old Alou inside. Damned if I'm going to let yesterday deflate me.

I read in the paper that Marlon Anderson is on bereavement leave. (I can't find it now; I think it was his grandmother or grandfather who died.)

So he's gone for three days. Speculation was that the Mets would recall either Chip Ambres or Sandy Alomar for the duration.

Any word on whether we expect to see Beltran this series? If they're thinking Ambres or Alomar, it sounds like Beltran won't see action against the Marlins.

Rain should not stop our Mets nor our piscine foe.

I want to see the Mets pissed and angry over the Braves series and venting their rage on these hapless Floridans.

Rooting for rainouts is rarely a good idea.

Brain Lawrence vs ML debut guy Dan Barone tonight.

Traditionally, we don't do well against kid pitchers making their debut.

A statement made by fans of all 30 MLB teams.

Gary Cohen said something to that effect (about the Mets struggling against rookies) during yesterday's broadcast.

I'd like to see stats (over the last ten years, maybe) showing how starting pitchers typically do in their big league debut. It does seem like a lot of them do pretty well.

It seems to be something peeps of all teams believe they suffer from.

In a game where the very best pitchers have a .667 winning percentage and no-goodniks have a .333 winning percentage, I don't know why we don't all accept that we're going to take our knocks against people we haven't heard of before.

They're in the bigs for a reason.

Makes one wonder why every team doesn't simply bring up 162 different pitchers in the course of a season.

He's the lost brother from the Everybody Loves Raymond pilot?

As for posting in IGT's, it's hit or miss on who's into it. It's Friday night and
summer is quickly coming to a close ... it's good people got better things to
do than post here.

Watching the weather at Shea is funny on tv, it's 52 degrees on the thermo
outside my bathroom window and it feels like October.

Thankfully, it's been raining here since around 3:30 this afternoon.

If the Mets offense doesn't start doing something against this Barone clown I'll soon be wishing it had continued raining at Shea.

2-0 Fish after 4 innings. The Mets limited to 2 singles thus far.

Reyes, Castillo .. the table is set.

I meant 57 degrees, still, it's chilly for 8/10.

BELTRAN GOES KABOOM AS I TYPE.

Can I tell you how happy I am when they don't have the two-tone hats.

Jacobs with the sub-.300 OBP, looking less like Jeff Bagwell every day.

But Lawrence walks him on four as I type. He's not long for this game.

I really like three run home runs (when the right team hits them).

That's not nice of Tom McCarthy to imply that Mike Jacobs' recent hitless slump was because his wife gave birth to their first children.

I hope this rally fizzles, but this Gregg Jeffries material is golden.
