Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 If you're not familiar with Matt Cain yet you oughta be.Just 22 y/o with just over one full season under his belt, he's given up just 201 hits in 275 innings pitched in his career-to-date. Still walks a lot as many young pitchers do - but barely a baserunner per inning over 6 starts this season.'07: 6 starts, 38 IP, 20 Hits, 21 BBs, 25 Ks, 3.80 ERA, 1.09 WHiP
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 i think so, but the Mets seem to beat great pitchers (Johnson, Clemens) while getting no-hit by rookie nobodies like Jose Jimenez. getting beat up by the Mets is almost a good sign for a guy!

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 As per the SNY pregame, David Wright came in with his head shaved today. This of course lead to everybody else getting their heads shaved. By game time, the only Mets still with hair are Reyes, Glavine, Heilman and Sele.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Kevin Burkhardt was reporting that Green and Newhan were among the last holdouts, but once they were willing to do it, just about everyone else was in.If it helps this team bond, I'm all for it.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 reyes is clearly too pretty to shave his head.i'm guessing the three pitchers are all married. i could of course check on this by looking up wifey-watch, but its more fun and easier to speculate.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 OK, who here's getting a buzzer tomorrow?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 That might have been his best-looking hit of the year.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Reyes has a double and a triple, we aren't out of the 2nd inning.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Soupcan - "Its the Jose Reyes show tonight."Behold, the power of hair. Of course, talent and unbelievable speed may have had a little something to do with it as well.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 We should get this Ray Durham character.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 I hadn't heard the Curt Schilling quote on Bonds before Gary just repeated it - "He's cheated on his wife, he's cheated on his taxes, he's cheated on the game."Bam.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 FSN Bay Area spends a lot of time with the camera focused on things that are not the baseball game.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Giants at Shea May 29th--31st, there are about 16 games between now and then... its not impossible that he'll be looking to tie or break the record at Shea if he goes on a tear. though i'd think they'd want him to do it at home and might even bench him on the road when he's 1 away.
