Milledge and Easley probably should start over Green and Valentin against tough lefties (if not all lefties) but today's small sample size will probably prevent that from happening for a little while.

MLB Game Day says "Coaching visit to the mound."

Hmmm, two out and John Maine at the plate.

What's there to talk about?

It was actually a coaching visit to home plate. Charlie Manuel was out to argue the safe call on Delgado at home, a killer slide to the first base side of the plate, sneaking his right hand in just ahead of the lunging tag of Ruiz, who had to come from the third base side to handle Burrell's throw.

Utley's making a bitch of you, David Wright

So you pull the guy who can't throw strikes today, and with the bases loaded you bring in the reliever who's never been able to throw strikes. And it works. Willie, you're a genius.

Nice to see Boogers with some success in a non-laugher.

We really should try and get him a win

Bizarre-sounding play. According to Howie, the catcher Ruiz called for the pop up, but Howard didn't hear him and barrelled into him.

Reyes did the right thing and hustled despite hitting what should have been an easy out, winding up on second .

LoDuca gets jammed but hits it to the right side, advancing Reyes to third.

Beltran walks, and Delgado hits a long fly ball to bring Jose home!

Edit: Wait, it was Nunez? How did the 1B collide with the 3B?

I shouldn't be listening to Mets games while trying to work. I suspect I'm not doing either thing particularly well.

Beltran picked off to end the inning.

its 3-2 at the end of 5, irish

If the Mets can hold on to the lead today it will be good in the karma-balancing way to make up for the games they should've won this weekend. Because the Mets have done a lot of things to help them lose today.

But that's his out pitch! What the fuck were Wright & Delgado thinking--that he'd groove a fastball in there?

Come on, guys, read your scouting reports!

Last inning he busted off a wicked 2-1 curveball to Beltran and all he could do was watch. He's thrown any pitch in any count today. Maybe they did read the scouting report and it just said "Good luck".

Pop-up was on the 3rd base side of the mound. Hamels immediately called for someone else to get it and bailed. Nunez got under it, but Howard can downhill off the mound and threw a bit of a forearm shiver into Nunez's head, knocking him down. Ball bounced off Howard's glove, and Nunez was down for about a minute.

That's right. Just stop working and focus on the game.

It was Nunez. The pop-up was right at the mound where Nunez and Howard converged. On the replay you could see Nunez calling it, but Howard kept drifting and drifting and slammed an elbow into his head as they both reached for the ball.

The Lo Duca grounder was no accident. First pitch he took a hack at a high fastball and tried to drive it. In the dugout after the AB, he was shaking his head and saying "too high". He wasn't trying to move anyone over with that first pitch. Then he tried to bunt and fouled it back. On the grounder to second, though, he really went "inside out" as the dudes in the booth described ad nauseum.

Burgos strikes out Utley on a ball in the dirt on a 3-2 pitch! thats confidence in the splitter!

do you walk Howard and have Burgos pitch to Burrell or do you bring in Feliciano to face Howard?

I'd walk Howard and leave Burgos in for Burrell.
