Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 No Feliciano to face Howard, Burgos stays in.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Why is Feliciano not in to face Howard?
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I think this is going to be one of those unintentional intentional walks for Howard.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 woah. pitching to Howard, i don't agree with this.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Howard is ice cold, that splitter has him all over the place.EDIT: I'm misspelled Cory Lidle. RIP.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 It looks like Burgos is pitching to Howard.Good. I'm okay with that...
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 HR Ryan Howard, i knew that was a dumb idea.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Willie is going to get killed for this one. No way you leave a righty in to face Howard. Bad bad move.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Retarded.Should have brought in Feliciano. Burgos sucks against lefties. It's a miracle he got Utley out.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Willie will say Feliciano pitched the last few nights,or some such bullshit.

Bad bad move.he should get killed. either bring in Feliciano or walk Howard and face Burrell. pitching to the 2nd or 3rd best hitter in the NL with a relief pitcher who throws fro the "wrong side" is just dumb.oh look Burrell struck out. whoops.

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Burgos v. lefties: 53 IP, 71 H, 12 HR, 35 BB, 68 K, .320 BAA, 2.00 WHIPStupid stupid stupid, Willie.
Guest ABG Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 There's no rational basis to pitch to Howard there. None. It'll only be more infuriating when Willie explains it away as a gut call or trying to get Burgos' cahnfidence up.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Hopefully the Mets can answer with at least one run here. Two quick strikes on David Wright to lead off.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 ]those numbers are scaryEven more depressing?Howard against lefties:279 AB, 112 K, 27 BB, .237 AVG/.314 OBP/.459 SLG/.773 OPSIf there were ever a time for a situational lefty, that was it.
Guest iramets Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Gosh, you'd almost think that some peeps around here don't care for Willie's weak-assed bullshit explanations of his reasoning or somefin. What are you guys, haters? Let's have some love for Willie! He's a brilliant tactician who always has a plausible in-depth explanation for those rare times his complex mind messes up.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Can't make too big a deal out of 6th-inning matchups in April. This was as good a time as any to see how/if he'd rise to the occassion.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Joe Smith has crazy stuff. That movement is ridiculous, and now he just broke a bat.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Philly bullpen. Ok, let's go to work.

This was as good a time as any to see how/if he'd rise to the occassion.I'd argue that every game counts until you clinch, and that it was pretty predictible how Burgos would do against Howard given their respective histories.I'm not saying you'd predict a home run, but it's a no-brainer that Burgos is less likely to be successful against Howard than one of our lefties.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 with 2 outs its also a far more likely bet that walking howard to face Burrell with Burgos is a better move, so willie actually chose the third best option (the worst option) of the 3 options he had there.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 A two-out hit to taunt and tantalize me.
