i was thinking about sunday until i saw the forecast, it is too early in the season to risk the rain imo, there are plenty of more games to go to.

Can't decide between Saturday and Sunday (Smoltz/Glavine part II).

We already are going tomorrow but I think this series is going to be BIG.

i'll be there tommorow with a few friends, feel free to come by and pour beer on the yankee fan (i'll even replace the beer if it was full and you get all of it on him.)

Are they still doing the Fan Fest for Kids before weekend games? I thought maybe not because of the construction. And I can't find any confirmation of it on the Mets official site. I got tickets for two Friday night games and if the Fan Fest is there, I'll need to arrive early.

Incidentally, how has parking/traffic really been this year? I'll have two small kids and an impatient wife with me...should I go right for the Shea lot, or look for parking somewhere along the #7 line and hop the train. If that's the case, can someone suggest a good (safe) stop on the #7 line?

Last year I went to Shea twice. Both times I parked on First Avenue in Manhattan, where the parking isn't quite so expensive and then got on the 7 train at Grand Central.

Depending on where you're coming from, of course, that may not work for you.

Hahn, where are you coming from? I agree with Yancy's strategy but where you are driving from could indeed give you better alternatives.

There is no Fanfest this year. The area behind the bullpens is extremely tight, and between a fire lane and the players parking lot that whole area is basically gone.

With respect to parking at Shea -- between the lost spaces and the high attendance (sellouts both Saturday and Sunday) -- it's pretty bleak, especially on the weekend. Unless you are able to get there, say, at least 90 minutes before the game don't bother trying for the lots close to Shea.

---

Weather today is just beautiful. Serious consideration to going tonight.

I'm actually coming from Orange County. So I have an hour's plus drive on top of whatever public transportation I take.

I would prefer not to drive into Manhattan. I thought about parking near Northern Blvd in Forest Hills. It would be two short subway rides from there, but at least I'm somewhat familiar with that area.

i went friday night and had no trouble parking in the main lot at 6:15 or so. i'd expect its harder on a saturday/sunday or when the weather is nicer.

If you're familiar with the area, by all means, go with that.

Some of the better stops along the 7 train for parking are in Long Island City, or closer to the stadium (90th, 103rd streets). The Junction Boulevard stop area is also a viable option, and will be easier to find given its proximity to a more major road. All are fine for weekend games.

May I suggest taking a Mets fan instead?

Seriously, have fun -- just don't let him wear any Yankee clothing.

I also will be going Saturday -- thinking of taking part in the "Bike to Shea" thing.

Monday, too -- Cliff Floyd's first game back at Shea. I hope they do something nice.

Had tix for Saturday but my oldest rugrat has a concert at his school that night. Bummer dude.

Looks like my next game is the Friday night tilt versus the MFYs.

Can someone do the math and tell me the pitching matchup?

Anyone else gonna be there? I'm buying.

Step up Dickshot.

I will be there. Who suggested that meeting spot we used for NLCS Game 2? That seemed to work ok.

Pitching matchups v. MFYs:
Fri: Oliver Perez v. Matt DeSalvo
Sat: Tom Glavine v. Andy Pettitte
Sun: John Maine v. Mike Mussina

I read Pettite would start Game 1 and DeSalvo Game 2 in the MFY series.

I will be at tonight's game, if someone wants to collect a drink I owe them come see me at Mezz 3, Row K, seat 9.

I'll be at Game 2, nice 4:pm start

I have Friday tickets in hand but can't decide if I want to go to another one this weekend. The Sunday night special intrigues, especially with Maine due to pitch.

Going tomorrow to hopefully see one of my favorite Mets of all-time return to Shea. (I certainly hope he's in the starting lineup against a RHP).

Change in plans, not going, tickets are spoken for though.

I'll be at tomorrow's day game -- going with a bunch of people from work. First sharpie appearance at Shea this season.

I won't be at a Mets game this weekend, but I will be up in Beantown watching Dice-K mow down the Braves.

Some old dude named Smoltz is pitching too. Should be a good game.

Mussina out for Sunday's game due to today's doubledheader (he has already lost game 1). Some scrub will be brought up to face the Mets instead.

Just got the good word (ie. tickets lined up). Mets at Tigers, the World Series that shoulda been, going to the Fri and Saturday games. Haven't been to Comerica since 2000. Very excited.
