I think it's because I have two guys projected to make the team who aren't yet on the 40.

The "Delay the Fifth Starter Plan" seems to be in effect, but it appears more likely to benefit Ben Johnson than the walking wounded Lastings Milledge at this point, given Johnson a chance to play Agbayani and provide enough heroism to stick.

Sounds like things are just about finalized:

- Apparently Pelfrey will stay behind in Florida (remember minor leagues don't start as early) for the first two weeks unti lthe 5th slot is needed.

- So that leaves room for the extra OFer; meaning Milledge if his wrist recovers, Johnson if it doesn't

- Burgos may have locked up his spot, at the expense of Sele. Without another hard thrower in the pen aside from Wagner it sounds like they want Burgos to make the squad for a different "look". Meanwhile Adkins probably killed his chances. Wonder if they'll try to trade him, cut him, or sneak him to a minor league roster?

So, until Pelfrey comes up to replace ???, we're looking at:
(4) Starters: Glavine, Hernandez, Perez, Maine
(7) Relief: Wagner, Heilman, Schoenweis, Burgos, Feliciano, Park, Smith
(8) Starting 8: LoDuca, Delgado, Valentin, Reyes, Wright, Alou, Beltran, Green
(6) Subs: Easley, Castro, Franco, Newhan, Chavez, [Milledge/Johnson]

Milledge went 1-fer-2 today and it was apparently enough to convince them he's good to go as they sent Ben Johnson to the minors. Also Andy Handy.

On the pitching side, they added Joe Smith & Aaron Sele to the ML roster.

Cool, Milledge re-takes what is his.

Only drama left is Burgos v. Park.

Well, I'm a yearbook type. And it'll look better once we're down to the final cats.

And we're nearly there. I'm hoping I find the ultimate fate of the last two free agents before the season begins.

Today was protrait day, so you can look forward to this whole grid changing in a day or two.

Eh, the fact that I had a thought of doing the same exact thing on a website idea long since scrapped years ago I kind of like it.

Though it would be just one page of course, and you wouldn't see various versions. Once a player was off, they'd be gone from the page, or at least just mentioned in text on the page.

It is annoying though that I have to log in in order to read this thread though with all the html code in there.

Just check the "Log Me in Every Time" box the next time you log in, and stay logged in.

Everything looks done here. I'll let go of the remaining free agents, having checked one last time for news of them, and present your 2007 Mets.

Pedro, Duaner, Padilla and Williams are all starting on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 23.

Guillermo Mota is officially on the "restricted list."

Also, it appears that Jason Vargas was removed from the 40-man roster and replaced with infielder Jose Castro.

Cool, we have new photos.

I'm not showing anything confirming the Castro/Vargas roster transaction, but Adkins may have been removed.

Oops, good catch. Yes, it was Adkins, not Vargas who is off the 40. The press notes differentiated that he was "outrighted" to AAA, while Pelfrey was "optioned."

Sometimes, when I don't get the transaction noted here on time, I blame myself for the team playing poorly.

First guy the Mets ever demote from New York to New Orleans: Lastings Milledge.

This marks the 11th straight year the Mets have had a far-easterner appear.

This may by a little bit more time for Mike Pelfrey, but it could by a little bit less if Park does well enough to stick.

Urdaneta
Urdaneta has been waiting a long time for this crack with the Mets, and a longer time to end his run as WORST PITCHER EVER. I guess, there are better places to get that monkey off your back, however, than Arizona.

To keep too many threads from popping up, I'm going to update the organizational chart -- when necessary/I'm up to it --- here instead of the "where's my dude? thread.

¡Viva Urdaneta!

We have 42 guys on the 40-man roster (above).

Adkins was removed from the 40-man at the start of the season.
Mota either doesn't count against the 40-man limit or isn't on it -- I'm not sure which the restricted list falls under.

The organizational chart is still possibly the coolest thing ever. I always imagined that Omar had a huge one of those things -- on his wall, Josh Lyman-style.

Yeah, thanks for solving the Adkins thing.

Where's Michael Abreu, the power hitting first baseman/ senior citizen they signed out of Cuba last year? He played at AA last year and IIRC hit the ball well during Spring Training this year.
Is he on some unknown disabled or inactive list, or was he released?
